There are certain games that come along from time to time that really get your attention. It could be for the action, the graphics or game play. However, it is a rare occasion that a game grabs you for all of these, plus the amazing experience of becoming emotionally attached and involved in the actions of characters.
It is to this that I write this open letter to Ellie and Joel. I met them in the “The Last of Us.”
*(Please note that I've tried to write this to contain no spoilers.
Today Nintendo announced the remaining NES games for the Nintendo 3DS ambassador program.Nothing really surprising or exciting, most of the games we probably already own in some form or another. I have the Classic NES versions of half of the games in the list below. Oh well at least it will lessen the load when [...]

We all know that the holy grail of collecting for the NES is the Nintendo World Championship cartridge. The last few times these have appeared on Ebay, they have literally gone for thousands of dollars. So the good folks over at RetroZone have created a reproduction cart that the rest of us can afford.

I am always hearing people complain about the price of video games. Now being an avid gamer since the NES days, I can remember some real eye openers when it came to buying games. There were quite a few SNES games and Nintendo 64 games that cost me damn near my entire Christmas budget.

Back in the early 90's I remember driving to Toy's R Us with my parents and purchasing a Game Boy. I can still remember unboxing it and discovering this game called "Tetris", which I played on the ride home!

Why do Super Nintendo's turn yellow over time? I use to think that that my SNES turned yellow because when I was younger, I cleaned it with something I should not have.

Cyberpunk is much-loved here at the Slowdown. If there?s one thing I and Martyn have in common, it?s our fondness for cyberpunk masterpiece Blade Runner. Ridley Scott?s neo-noir thriller has had a considerable influence on the genre since its release almost 3 decades ago. Neuromancer and Ghost in the Shell are two other favourite stories of mine that have inspired countless movies and games. So it has been a pleasure to notice a growing number of games cropping up recently that celibrate cyberpu

The Humble Indie Bundle is back with a new sale in the name of indie games and charity. You know the drill, pay whatever you want for a set of DRM-free games, and divide your payment into portions going towards the developers, charity, and the bundle initiative itself. I?m a little late in posting but fret not, there is still plenty of time before this offer expires. As is the norm for this project, the reception has overwhelming and the sales numbers have already crossed the $1 million mark.
I’m starting off my character write-ups for the NWCW with two stars from NJPW, and currently one of their top tag teams – Apollo 55: Prince Devitt and Ryusuke Taguchi. As a note, as this is a write-up for their status within my fictitious promotion, as opposed to actually being in New Japan, their stats will be slightly different than what their stats would be within New Japan.

I recently picked up the role-playing game Wild World of Wrestling by Timeout Diversions from DriveThruRPG. The game is from the same people who brought us the underrated RPG WWE: Know Your Role, which I also own and like. As I’m reading through the game, I’m also working on setting up my own little promotion. This is partly with original wrestlers and in a large part with adaptations of real-world wrestlers. But, first, I’d like to do a little world-building and set-up the in-game organization.
I grew up playing Nintendo systems and the Mario series, but even closer to my heart is the “Legend of Zelda” franchise. So back in 1993 when Super Mario All-Stars came out for the Super Nintendo, I was sure that Nintendo would give the Zelda series the same treatment. Its now 18 years later and [...]

"The PS3/Xbox 360/Wii will soon be retro." Yeah, I feel old too. It's similar when I've been indexing magazines lately as I've been doing stuff from 2011 lately and I'm thinking, "Man these systems seem so old and it was only 2011?!"
