    Another of marktrade's scans finally comes home.  This one required some slight editing on my part, as almost every page still had staple holes visible!  Photoshop's content aware fill tool saved the day and ensured that no pages were harmed by cropping.
    Please also be aware that due to very little information being available about the exact publication history of PCGames, the issue number is unknown and thus has been titled so as to sort via its cover date.

    This mag hails from an interesting time when the PlayStation and Saturn were the new kids on the block vying for attention while Nintendo, Atari, and Panasonic were all trying to distract everyone using smoke and mirrors with their promises of their killer next-gen systems - the Ultra 64, the Jaguar II a.k.a. Midsummer, and the M2, only one of which actually went into production.  Learn from history, kids.  Don't believe the hype.

    This particular copy was apparently given away at E3 (see the sticker on the cover).  It's an interesting mag.  The opening editorial claims the mag aims to appeal to adult gamers, and for the most part, I found it an interesting read that did indeed succeed in their stated goal of being better than the typical video game mag aimed at children.  The only problem I had with the mag was the review section, which for some reason eschewed written reviews in favor of what was essentially a bunch of screenshots and a score.  They must have gotten some negative feedback on this format, since later issues would add written commentary to the reviews.  Anyway, check it out!

    This issue has the singularly hellish distinction of being comprised of almost nothing BUT two-page spreads.  Seriously, about the only pages that aren't spreads are a couple of the advertisements.  That said, I've kept the entire mag as single pages this time, since there isn't anything vital that will be disrupted by viewing the pages separately.  Nevertheless, you may want to switch to two-page viewing mode from time to time to get a better sense of how the mag was printed (on my reader of choice, CDisplay, you can switch between two-page and single page viewing by hitting CTRL-t and CTRL-s, respectively).

    This issue shipped with an ENORMOUS double-sided poster of Ultima VII.  I had to cut it into 8 pieces to be scanned, but it has been meticulously restored to perfection.  The poster images have been included at the end of the archive at the same resolution as the rest of the mag (2500px high), but for anyone interested, I have uploaded the full-size versions (12,648 x 19,530) of the front and back sides here:
