Unfortunately, the Game Boy Secrets books never had a book that was released with Link's Awakening included; the LoZ ALTTP book with the Link's Awakening guide is the only version that has that, I believe?

No, you are correct, there was no Game Boy Secrets with Link's Awakening. I was hasty when typing my description, and have edited it to correct the mistake.

I felt bad de-binding a first printing of this book in order to scan it, but one must break some eggs in order to make decent scans. I think that's how the saying goes.

None that I'm aware of, and I'm almost certain there wouldn't be. Nintendo's programmers used the room as an "error correction" area, a place to dump the player if there was an error while loading a location as a failsafe to avoid locking the cart and potentially corrupting the game data. The fact this error correction method had been used in some versions of the cart was known about in 1994, and people would occasionally ask about it or talk about finding it on Usenet or IRC chat rooms, but it wasn't until fifteen or so years later that a way of reliably getting into the room was found. Nobody at the time these books were being written would have found it except by accident, even if they had been told about it by someone working at Nintendo.
