Did you catch that review for The Bouncer? "Don't believe the hype—not even ours."

The funny thing is, no one even remembers the hype. Or even the game. If you're gonna hype the crap out of something no one cares about, at least make it a memorable failure. You've gotta Zune that $#!+.

I damn well remember the hype over The Bouncer. It's what made me plunk down my $50 to buy it when it came out. I figured I was getting "Final Fight" by way of "Final Fantasy".

It is literally the LAST time I ever purchased a video game without waiting to read the magazine (or internet by that point) reviews on it. :)

So NextGen issues that mea culpa over The Bouncer only to turn around and be like, "WE PLAYED MGS2 AND IT'S THE SECOND COMING OHH OHHH GOD RIGHT THERE YES YESYESYES!"

<_<

No wonder they were cancelled ten issues later!

Although, judging by this issue, it appears most of them just moved down the hall and started work on the Official Xbox Magazine.

I too remember the hype around The Bouncer, but the thing that I remember most about it (certainly not the game itself, which I couldn't be arsed to play) was how sharply and decisively that thing sank like a lead rock. If video games were movies then The Bouncer would be Snakes on a Plane.

The most amusing thing to me is that they were wrong about both.

- Prime Tom Cruise clip.
