Just signed up recently, what magazines do you recommend to someone that likes Nintendo, Sega, and PC?

I saw in an article somewhere that Archive.org was uploading all the Nintendo Power magazines but I guess Nintendo didnt want any of that so they got taken down quickly so I decided to seek out all the magazines and came across this site. I do have issues 1-145 but everything after is missing and I cant find them anywhere else. As for Sega I got all the Sega Visions magazines and for PC I'm attempting to get all the PC gamer magazines (ones that are still available.)

Where else can I get the rest of the missing Nintendo Power magazines and what else would you recommend I start collecting/reading next?

I highly recommend Video Games & Computer Entertainment and Electronic Gaming Monthly.

VG&CE has a great balance of 8-bit / 16-bit console and PC coverage, plus it was a well written magazine.   EGM has great coverage of both Nintendo & Sega consoles..

Thank you

I also wanted to know why some magazines are preserved but others say acquired, isnt that the same thing or no?

There are also magazines that are "not allowed" even though they have been published nearly a decade ago, what is up with that?

I'm a big fan of PC gaming mags myself.  What I recommend you do is:

1. Go to the CGW Museum where you can download every single issue ever published of Computer Gaming World.  The scans aren't as high-res as the ones here, but who cares - the set is complete!

2. Check out KiwiArcader's site, OldGameMags.  He's got some American PC Gamers, but also a large assortment of UK PC Gamers, PC Powerplay (Australia), and a bunch of others.

3. Pix's Origin Adventures is an amazing resource for information and materials related to games developed by the late, great Origin Systems, but he also did PC gaming fans a huge favor by putting up scans for a bunch of issues of PC Zone, a UK mag.  Check those out here:

That should set you up quite nicely with retro PC gaming mags, I think.
