link it up after you post it. Zelda is my favorite franchise and i love Zelda 2. i wouldn't say it's my favorite, but it gets WAY more hate than it deserves. just beat it again last year.

You got it! I'm doing a series called "The Good, The Bad, The Buggy":, with 2-3 good things, 2-3 bad things, and 1-2 little glitches or bugs. Zelda II is the first game on the list! About halfway through editing, it'll be here as soon as it's done! 😎

pretty good video there. i think you did a good job on covering the positives and negatives. i did not even know about the glitch you mentioned that gets you to the graveyard. cool info!

Thank you so much for checking it out! That was the goal; balanced and informative so happy that's what you got from it!

I don't know if the Wii is considered Retro nowadays, but my son & I have been playing Fortune Street for the Wii. It has some pretty hilarious dialogue from the Dragon Quest characters if you're familiar with the stories (i.e. The Princess from Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior 2) and for some reason the Platypunk character seems to be an Italian mobster!

A friend and I just completed a co-op playthrough of the original Halo. I think we'll be doing Halo 2 before long! :)

Solo gaming wise, I picked up a copy of "Curse: The Eye of Isis" on the PC which I'm looking forward to trying out. :)

next up for me is Wario Land for the Virtual Boy. i completed the first one on Game Boy a month or two back. Planning on playing the whole series this year.

did end up playing the whole series last year. Was a good bit of fun. the VB game was awesome. either this one or WL3 were my favorites of the pack, with Wario Land: Shake It (Wii) being my least favorite.

ANYWAY,
i am working on Mega Man 9 right now from the Wii eShop. this game is pretty tough! i have 6 robot masters down, with 2 to go. Plus the Wily stages of course. I am also hoping to tackle MM10 this year. MM9 is only 16 years old, and i think games are generally considered retro after 20, but since it's a throwback game, i'm counting it anyway.

I've been playing a fair amount of Dune 2000. Lately, I've also found myself having a lot of fun playing games that are relatively recent, but emulate the look and feel of older games. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk (Jet Set Radio) and TMNT: Shredder's Revenge (SNES-era TMNT games) have been a couple of favourites. They *feel* like older games while introducing modern gameplay and control refinements that improve the QOL quite a bit.

I don't know if they are really "retro" and I haven't started them yet, but I picked up Metal Slug Anthology for the Wii and Populous DS for the DS.

Yeah, sixteen years on I think we can call these retro.  Also, had no idea Populous was on DS.  That's actually pretty awesome, and the price isn't bad on ebay so I think I will be getting it.  Thanks!

Not playing too much right now, as between house purging and reading RM scans I've not gotten into much.  That being said I'm going to start up FF 2/4 again, as it's been a few years.

Yeah, I got it for $10.

Phantasy Star deserves this kind of attention.  Would love to see Sega hire M2 and have 'em put something together.

It really sucks that the best we're likely to see from the Phantasy Star IP is the Phantasy Star Collection released on the GBA back in 2005. 😞

At least there's the port of Phantasy Star 1 from Sega Ages. Captures everything you want and nothing you don't, with convenience options included too.

Oh man, I totally forgot about the Sega Ages port of Phantasy Star! Awesome reminder, @koifish! :)

I played the English translation of the PS2 version, Phantasy Star Generation 1.  It was 10 years ago, so I don't remember too well, but I think it was pretty decent.  I never played the OG version, so I couldn't tell you if it's an abomination in the eyes of a PS purist, but those people are always free to play the Master System version.

I guess this one is "Sega Ages," too, though I assumed the previous comments were related to the completely different version for the Switch.
