Wii Preordering

Has anyone heard much about preorders for the Wii? Word on the street is that Gamestop/EB Games are supposed to start taking preorders today (10/11/06) but I have $80 in Best Buy gift cards that I'd like to use so I'm hoping to pre-order there.

Any inside info Philly?

Update: I'm going to Gamestop this morning to try to place a preorder. I can always use my Best Buy gift cards toward controllers or games as BB is less likely to run out of those.

Bestbuy doesnt do preorders on consoles , They basically have tickets and hand them out to the people waiting in line outside the store , this way there isnt a trampling of people running and pushing there way into the store

So no luck :(

That's OK. I was actually sucessful in placing a preorder at Gamestop this morning. I have just returned home feeling very triumphant as I was one of the lucky 12 people in line who actually got to preorder. About 20 people were turned away. I entered the mall as soon as the security guard unlocked the exterior doors at 8 AM and waited for two hours in front of the store. There were about four people who somehow got there before me.

I preordered the Wii, an extra remote, an extra nunchuck, a classic controller, a 2000 Wii points card, Zelda, Excite Truck, and Elebits. They were only allotted one extra controller per system.

I plan to use my Best Buy gift cards toward extra remotes later.

I am one happy man!
