Those were the early days of strategy guides where you couldn't use any official images so you had to just make stuff up. (I remember seeing a bunch of resold Pokemon cards at places like K-Mart where none of the creatures on the packaging were real Pokemon) I assume this is also what led to GamePro and their infamously off-model covers in their first 50 issues or so.
