The guitar instrument fad was brief, maybe 5 years in total, but I still think about it a lot.  It introduced me to a lot of music, and it was a great social game.  This standalone magazine came out just before it got over-saturated and died out.  I blame Activision for that, they just released an endless amount of Guitar Hero until everyone was sick of it.  That said, it seemed like retailers we're always upset at the amount of inventory space the instruments took up.  Ironic, considering most of that is Funko Pops now.

Anyways, this is a little curiosity from that time.

  • the history of the Guitar Hero franchise
  • previews for Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band 2
  • technique tips for playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band
  • an article on how Harmonix goes about licensing songs
  • a retrospective on older rhythm games
  • a guide on beating The Devil Went Down to Georgia in Guitar Hero 3
  • cheat codes for various Guitar Hero and Rock Band games
  • interviews with Slash, Joe Perry, and some of the session musicians of WaveGroup
  • spotlights on music game accessories, real music accessories, and energy drinks
