Animal Crossing :city Folk

I was just curious if anyone here is planning on getting the new Animal Crossing game for the Wii. I know it isn't really as much a game as a waste of time, but I use it to relax. It is kind of like my moment of Zen. I get to run around and do nothing (except maybe hit a few people over the head with a net...face it we all have those people we want to hit on the head with stuff).

Anyone else planning on picking up the game on the 16th or 17th? If so please let me know and I will add you to my friends list so we can visit eachothers towns.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN DO NOTHING! You can run around dig holes, plant flower, hit animals over the head with bug nets... pull weeds... err... collect shells... fish... umm... yeah I see what you mean now. But hell yeah I just paid mine off today but they dont have the Wii speak version for reserve so I'm confused about that. Anyway I'll be playing it the night it comes out.

Let me clear it up for you Thor....There is no Wii Speak "Version"

The Wii Speak is an add on that they will be selling later for (I believe) 20 - 30 dollars extra. This will be functional with AC:CF. Supposedly the Mic is powerful enough to pick up what anyone in the room is saying. I don't know if I will end up getting it (I do own a Playstation Eye...so chances are I will) but I know I will be getting the game when it comes out. By the end of the first couple of days I will probably have my first 2 mortgages paid off with shells and fish. Then to move on to the hitting animals in the head with nets thing :P

Anyone moving over their AC:WW (DS) Catalog or are they starting over?

(The European Release of AC:CF is scheduled for like December 2nd last I checked)

Ah, that's actually pretty quick then. I thought it would be somewhere around the 15th or so.

Just checked on the Nintendo Europe site, it's the 5th. :)

I thought there was actually a version coming out with Wii Speak included and at least in Europe that's still the case:

Also didn't realize you could import things from the DS version.

The only one I would love to import is whatshisname, the orange mouse with blue ears, a filthy mouth and a kiss my butt attitude that talks behind everyone's back all the time. :D

I got so close to that one character that he actually gave me a framed picture of himself to put in my house.

I'd love to just import him and the picture, but I don't think that will be possible...

That's also the box they have on the display at Gamestop so I'm confused. Hopefully they will just sell the Wii Speak for only $20 like but I have to go to the mall today again so I'm going to take a closer look at the picture to see if it have the ESRB info from the US rather than the Euro version.

Apparently the ONLY things you can important from the DS version is your character (minus the clothing) and your catalog from Nook...Everything else has to stay on the DS (this includes all items, bells, museum, etc.)

I am debating weather or not importing that then. The thing I like about Animal Crossing is trying to get all of that suff. If you import the catalog that means you can just buy anything you want from him. Though this would make life easier but... I will probably play the game less. So I'll probably start fresh again.

I copied this from my post on gamefaqs to help others get the game

Just in case this might help a few of you.

I live in Central IL

I went in to one Wal-mart in town and they were putting up all of the new games that they got in. I asked the lady there if I could go through the boxes because I was looking for Animal Crossing for the Wii. She didn't care (typical for Walmart) and I didn't find any. I asked her to look it up in the computer and she said they weren't getting in until Saturday.

Not to leave it at that I stopped at another Walmart and found that a lot of the shelves for Wii games were empty. I knew the other store was putting there games up (apparently a lot of Walmarts put there new games up on Thursday (restock time I guess) so I asked her if she knew if they had any. She looked perplexed so I just asked her to check in the computer since there were a bunch of empty shelves in the Wii game area. She checked the computer then sent someone into the back and brought me out a copy.

She scanned it in and it rang up just fine.

Here is the only picture I have been able to get to work (my camera isn't so hot)

http://i385.photobucket.com/albums/oo300/H...r2/100_0312.jpg

I have peaches as my fruit. Anyone who has the game and wants to trade let me know and I will get my friend code so we can trade fruit.

They didn't have the wiispeak version so I just got the regular. I decided NOT to transfer my full catalog from WW. I went ahead and created a new character and put my Mii face on it. If I ever am really REALLY hard up for my catalog I can always bring my DS character in as a second townie and just have him buy it and mail it to my original character.

Anyone have any questions about the game? I would gladly answer them.

Yeah been talking with my buddy (the manager at the local Gamestop) and they still have no info on it. He is thinking they may get some info like on Saturday that maybe when you buy them together you just get a discount rather than doing a bundle.

Which makes sense since not everyone is going to want the bundle and that would save them money on packaging.

Well... now I'm confused.

I just ran across a US box for the bundle.

Oh, now I found this but I'll quote it http://www.wiinintendo.net/2008/11/01/anim...mazon-for-6999/

GameStop doesn’t have pre-orders for the bundle since they will be getting limited quantities of it. So if you want one, you’re going to have to be ready to go to GameStop the morning of November 16th to make sure you get yourself a copy.

Yeah. I called my Gamestop and they said the same. They will be getting like 4 of the bundle in and no more. So it will be first come first serve. Apparently you have to buy the Wii Speak from a retailor to get the Special Wii Speak Channel on the Wii. Apparently this will include some kind of video messaging. I guess I won't have to use Eye of Judgment for PS3 as my video converencing anymore :P

I called Best Buy as well (Bored) and they said they were getting a limited number in as well but they wouldn't know until the truck came in Saturday night.

P.S. If anyone wants to create a RetroMags T-Shirt or Flag I will gladly display it in my town :) Probably a great way to get more people to the site.

P.S.S. Besides, Philly will just ban them all later anyway ! (Kidding)

It could be me but seems like there's a lot of sexual undertones in the dialog, at least in my village.

This girl has some freaky fantasies going on.

RUU_0010.jpg

Did she actually ask one of the 2 guys that she was talking about in the previous picture if she could join in???

RUU_0013.jpg

Okidoki, moving along.

RUU_0012.jpg

Yeah, better not comment on this one....

RUU_0028.jpg

Tom the Triad cat seems to appreciate my skills.

RUU_0011.jpg

What in the world went wrong with this bunnyrabbit??? 0_o

I think you are reading a bit too much into that dialog than is really there.

I played this game once, and then got rid of it. Boring as hell. I have a real life mortgage to pay off; I don't need a fake one too.

Yes, but since I have no chance of paying off my personal mortgage it does feel good to be "Debt Free" just because I caught a couple of fish one rainy day.

 at E-Day taking that sexual context thing seriously. :D

And I don't have a mortgage myself, so I do enjoy having a virtual one. :P

You had me going for a while too. I find it refreshing that a game allows you enough latitude to actually DO that kind of thing...Now onto an AC:CF topic that is REALLY upsetting me

ANIMAL TRACKS --

Is anyone having a problem where the grass is dieing in their entire town? Apparently Nintendo added a feature called Animal Trakcs which is suppose to wear out grass that you walk on too much (like real grass). In my opinion this thing is progressing way too fast. After a month or so of only playing an hour a day, I started to have my grass disappear...and not just where I ran all the time. It seems that just walking is enough to do it as well. My town is starting to look ugly (and I have seen some that after a month or so were complete desserts). Anyone else noticing this and having a problem with it?

Hehe, well it depends on how you look at certain things. But I'm sure that there are plenty of little things in there that were put in place so that they could be interpreted in various ways.

There's just too many instances of certain characters saying the most inappropriate things at times. Not all of them mind. It certainly depends on their character.

Someone like the Yuka the Koala is simply sweet 99% of the time, and there are only a couple instances where you can see something like in the above pic, and even then it's stretching it a bit.

But others like Tom the cat can be quite nasty in their own right, just as Limberg the orange mouse with blue ears. He is such a foul creature.

I had him in my DS version and he's my all time favourite critter. :)

I look at it like with the Simpsons, where a child can laugh at the things Bart does, but at the same time an adult can laugh his ass off with the things Homer says or does, even though this would go over most kids head.

And yeah, I'm starting t notice the anima tracks as well. Seems like the grass doesn't grow back quickly enough even if you avoid running in the same tracks over and over again.

Another example, Cesar the Orangutan who dresses in all white, has one of those thin mustaches just above his lip and calls everyone "highness" just made a comment how 2 of the girls in town that used to be close friends had a huge fight.

And he seemed to be flabbergasted as to what could have happened.

Cesar.gif

But then he commented about how he's the last person to know how girls are.
