Fallout 3. Meh!

Let me start off by saying I'm a huge fan of Elder Scrolls, HUGE FAN! I have been wating for this game since I first heard about it. I was out on Black Friday (yeah I got up at 2am with my wife to shop) and well found this game for $50 which I was happy because I don't like paying $60 for games these days it just pisses me off. Any who...

So I boot up the game on my PS3 and it takes a bit to get the game going because it forces and install on the HDD. Start playing it and right from the start it feels like a modern Oblivion. As I start progressing through the game though I start to realize that the game is just simular to Oblivion. The game just is not nearly as fun it's just an ok game. I'm playing through the quest wich play out just like Oblivion so that was a plus but the game is even buggier than Oblivion. The character levels up on experience alone, no more single stats level up like your magic or acrobatics. So you do a quest you get experience. You kill monsters you get experience. But the monsters don't respawn! You kill something it just lays there dead for what seems to be the rest of the game. Maybe I just have not put enough time into the game for them to respawn I don't know but it's rather annoying.

There are some cool features like being able to aim your attack with either a gun or sword and it does this slow motion effect where you can just watch the enemy's head get lobbed off. But I'd have to say I'm rather let down by this game.

On a happier note I did pick up the new NiGHTS for Wii for only $15 but again I'm picking that game to bits with all the new annying stuff they added to that game. Nother will ever be quite like the original hey meppi! But the music is still just as good.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy a good bug now and then. One of them is because of colision boxes. So like a dead enemy laying on the ground gets hit by a swinging door causes the enemy to react. Some times they react badly where they may go flying or just totally spazz out. One of the times I shut a door and it too the enemy with it and his leg got stuck in the door it looked like the guy was humping a hole in the groun it made me laugh so much.

I own the 360 version of the game and it has operated perfectly. I think I read on the net that most of the bugs are in the PS3 version. I don't understand that at all.

Oblivion on the 360 was better than the PS3 also. Again I don't understand.........

Is this just Bethesda's games or is this more common than that?

Not sure this is the first time I've gotten the chance to play a PS3 game that was also on the 360. Usually I'll buy the 360 version but my system was at Microsoft getting fixed so I had to buy the PS3 version. Yeah and the more I play it the more upset I get with the random freezing. I think I'm done with this game. I've already beaten it a couple times but I was wanting to really go though and beat absolutly everything. I'm just tired of it now, I've played it out.

I've had zero issues with my copy of FO3 and I've had it since launch (got the CE). The new update should fix any other issues, that and adding Trophy support. I started a whole new game because of the Trophies. I don't see how you can find the game annoying in any way!

Have any of you played FO1 and 2 when you were younger? I used to play those games to no end, so this is a definite step up, and there's DLC coming soon and the level cap will go from 20 to 30.

So you play it on the PS3 and not once had the game freeze on you? It happenes to me several times while I play it. Of course it always happens when I fast travel and the game saves before that completes it just sucks.

And no I have not played the other Fallout games after playing this one I was interested till I watch videos of the other games and they did not look very good I'm not really in to those types of games.

Indeed. before the update I had around 70 hours logged into it. I even played it for about 5-6 hours straight without any freezing. Maybe I'm just lucky. I will admit I didn't do a LOT of fast traveling, but I did a fair amount. Not sure why I didn't suffer like the others I have read about. My PS3 is fairly new as well though, under 6 months old.
