Street Fighter Iv

Recommended Posts

What is everyone's thoughts on Street Fighter IV?

It seems to be getting really good reviews. Although with today's bias in the media any game with "fanboys" gets huge reviews because they don't want to piss anyone off. I think I might personally be blinded by my love for Street Fighter II. I still remember when I was little and one of the game stores had the demo playing in the window. It looked like so much fun I almost cried. Yes. I was and still am the King of all Dorks (Geeks as well sadly). Anyway.

1) PS3 or Xbox 360

2) Regular edition for 59.99 or the CE for 79.99 (CE has an anime, Music Cd, mini guide, and action figure)

No...I am not preordering from Gamestop out of principle and the fact that I don't really need a "Ryu Style" headband. My wife would kill me for wearing it...

It looks to me like it might be a lot of fun, but again, I believe my view is kind of slanted due to misty eyed memories.

Plenty of videos on Youtube and I believe IGN and even Gamespot has reviews up.

Boring. I always hated Street Fighter. Any 1-on-1 fighting game, really. I found them uninteresting and tedious, trying to learn all those moves. I guess that was to try and make up for the lack of story or change. It was just one three-round fight after another. Yawn. I always liked beat-em-ups. They are kind of repetitive too, but at least you could walk through the level left and right and up and down, and find weapons and stuff to use. Super Double Dragon was great.

I have zero interest in this game, especially for the price it will go for. I'd rather spend that kind of money on Legends of Wrestlemania if it turns out to be a good game.

Hopefully Legends of Wrestlemania will be better than the Legends of Wrestling games (at least I have heard they could have been a lot better, really need to get into at least last generation).

I like games like Super Double Dragon, have you tried Beats of Rage?

I liked Street Fighter II back in the day, I will at least try IV out when they have it up at the game store (unless my fiance gets the PC version-which would require me upgrading my PC, that could be good. :) ).

Well I would like to play it and it looks rather nice but Street Fighter 3 really disappointed me so I'm playing it safe this time around. I've got 2 friends that are already buying it so I'll play the crap out of their game then after that decide if it's worth buying. Right now I'm too much in to Skate 2 and looking forward to RE5 to even really care.

Now when the new KOF game comes out I will be first in line to snatch it up.

i've already got it paid off through my local gamestop, and am very anxious to pick this up Tuesday, (or Monday night if they have a midnight release.) for the 360. And i'm getting the collector's, because i'm a sucker for getting anything that has an OST with it. (and i'll wear the headband out of the store, and promptly lose interest in it in a day or so.)

i'm not even REALLY that great at street fighter, but i really do love playing it.

I still have high hopes for legends of wrestlemania. Although it woudl be nicer with Randy Savage in it. Apparently they can not get his likeness for the game. I saw the total list of characters and I am not qutie sure how some of them became "Legends of Wresltemania". I think I saw the Big Boss Man and Slaughter. Not to mention Yokozuna. Didn't they each only have like ONE trip to Wreslemania. They might have been great characters in old WWF...but does that make them Legends of Wreslemania?

Anyway. I guess I will have to pick up Street Fighter IV. I think I am leaning towards the regular version now. I really don't have any place to put the Figure. The Strategy guide is apparently only for the new characters. The Anime can be seen on Youtube and apparently only has one cool fight between Ryu and Seth...no Akuma...no Bison, etc. So the only thing in the CE I would use would be the Sound Track and the DLC (the DLC can be purchased for like $4).

What is Haku doing in there too? Where is Demolition? I am suprised to see Ultimate Warrior though (after the scandal and stuff a few years ago-but they own the character don't they, not him?). Where is Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard "The Brain Busters"? They have Shawn Michaels, would it be that hard to get Marty Janetty and have a virtual "The Rockers" available?

I am going to take a serious look at Street Fighter 4 when it is released. I want to get a new system, rather than upgrade my current computer (mainly because this freebie is going to require a total replacement, saving the hard drives and DVD burner and adding the remainder to my cluster). I am still on the fence about the 360 and PS3 at the moment (fiance is not interested in a Wii, her sister had one and we played it a bit but never really 'liked' it for some reason (before anyone starts saying SF4 is not on Wii, I know that, just didn't want to forget the Wii).

I've never been big on fighters. I don't like having to play the game for hours just to memorize combos because that's the only was to succeed. The only fighter I ever kinda got into was the Soul Blade/Calibur series. Also played some Toshinden on PS1. The 3D style of fighters is more tolerable than 2D.

I have played and finished the arcade game and will say that it won't start a new legion of fans, but it is indeed a very good game with beautiful visuals (If you have only seen stills then watch a vid)

The game in the arcades is very easy though and from early reports I am hearing the console editions are far tougher which is a much needed thing!

This is Capcom we are talking about, you know there are going to be revisions to the original. I have yet to see more than one screen shot of it and some people talking about it (waiting to try it hands on).

Ive been having a crack at the 360 version, but its dam hard to pull off the special moves on the pad.

For fighters i always use the D-pad but it just dosnt sit well with some of the moves (Ryu and Ken's super combos are hellish to get to work)

You kind of have to swap from Dpad to Sticks to finish the fight which is a pain.

Thta said it looks stunning and is closer to Street Fighter 2 than anything else.

You should really get one of these:

saturn_usb_pad_shop.jpg

They are just perfect if you prefer a D-pad to an arcade stick.

Got 2 of these myself last week and they are very close to the originals, a tiny bit stiffer, but that might change once they are played in.

The only problem is that they don't work with the 360, but they do with the PS3.

I am probably going to have to get one of those. I am NOT spending > $100.00 on an arcade stick, no matter how cool it looks.
