Homepage Width Reduction?

I really appreciate Retromags, and I hate to complain -- but the homepage has gotten out-of-hand. Today, the homepage is 1166 pixels wide. The browser window needs to be even wider to be display Retromags without horizontal scrolling. Is there any way that be scaled back to be something more reasonable, say 1000 pixels wide? The site would display much more nicely on netbooks that way ;)

Looks scrunched up don't it? I think it is the size of the pics in the News items that is messing up the way it looks.

It is.....

The portal page (home page) automatically resizes itself as you adjust the browser window. The only thing I can control is how much each column is alloted......this is what it is set to right now....

left column = 25%

middle column = 50%

right column = 25%

Now I can take away columns, meaning I can remove the right column and just have the left and middle columns shown.....if you want to see how that would look go to http://www.1emulation.com as they use the same software and skin as us

But if it is really bothering you, we could probably resize those big pictures and just put a link to the full size versions directly under it. I dont notice things like this because I have a 22 inch Acer LCD....so it looks normal to me.

I thought about going and resizing the pics but wasn't sure how it would be taken.

I don't know about resizing the front page by taking away the right column. I mean, where would you put that stuff? On the bottom of the left column or just get rid of it?

What kind of monitor do you have? Ratio wise?

Either I've just gotten used to it or I don't have any problem with it but I think it looks fine.

I took a look at that emulation page and that just looked strange. Both of my monitors are widescreen ratio. I'll have to take a look at it on a 3:4 or what ever the ratio is for the old style and see.

I am using an older (non widescreen) monitor. The Front Page changed for me when that pic for the MvC2 was posted, thinking it will go back after that is dropped from the FP.

eh, that image is gone and the page is still the same. Doesn't bother me personally.

It's the same because of the images from that Super NES Buyer's Guide that you put up. Putting two side-by-side is too wide for that box.

Those were not 'actual' side by side previews, they are one pic of the two pages sized down. Those are were resized to 700 width, now they are 480 width so it should be better.

I found a setting that I think may have fixed all future issues.....

Tell me if it works better for you now with that enabled :)

I prefer it this way, with the scroll bars and such for pics wider than allowed. Of course, there will be people who complain about that too. Oh well, this seems to be the best fix for it (this way no one really has to be worried about getting a pic just the right size).

Really, I do not have scroll bars? I have a 17 inch LCD and it seems to display fine

I am running 1024x768, on a regular CRT monitor (not widescreen). That is why I have scrolls.

If I click "fit to width" under view in Opera, it downscales the pics and makes everything fit in the space provided.

If I bump up my resolution to 1280x960 then there are no scroll bars but that is a little extreme on a 15" monitor. :)

Time to get an LCD, man. It will make editing scans much easier as you'll be able to see much clearer.

I have had a couple LCD's but wasn't happy with them (too small) and ended up getting more for them than I paid when 'adding' an LCD to a used computer I was selling. I want to get at least a 19" or so widescreen.
