Run-and-gun classic Contra is getting a brand new game with WiiWare title Contra -ReBirth-. On May 12, the game will be be released in Japan for 1000 Wii Points. According to the official page, the will feature two player co-op like the original Contra — so we're assuming this means local co-operative play. No word on a Western release.

Man that would have been the perfect name why'd they change it?

Seriously wow that would have been such a bad idea. I'll bet that person was fired for even suggesting that name.

I hope it's two player and has vertical stages.

I'm not a fan of the vertical stages (except for the ones on the old Gameboy Contra)

But SNES contra I really did not like them. I'd rather see the 3rd Person/FPS style they did in the original Contra.

Oops scratch that. I see what your saying now. I was thinking the top-down view.
