I'm Willing To Loan My Mags To You Scanners For Free!

Hi, I have a lot of great video game mags from the early to late 90's. I'd be willing to send any of them to any of you regular scanners (someone trustworthy obviously.. ). I could send like 15-20 issues a time via USPS Priority Flat Rate Box. I'd pay for shipping to you, you pay for shipping them back. I'm gonna make a list of the issues I have, and post that list here soon. I'd scan them myself, but I'm just not up to it. I used to scan a lot of games, boxes & manuals for RF Generation. I'm all scanned out.. Is it a good idea? Any of you up for it? Thanks.

Check out some covers I've scanned:

5 = Perfect / 4 = Near Mint / 3 = Avg. Little Wear / 2 = Well Read & Rough around the edges, but Complete / 1 = Missing cover, pages, or very poor condition overall (creases, stains, dog ears etc.)

Most issues will be a 3 and are in great condition overall with very little wear noticeable. Infact a lot of the 3’s I’m giving should probably be 4’s… And a lot of the 2’s interior pages are flawless… Most 1’s are missing the cover & rough, but readable.

Here's what I have:

I used to have a lot more mags, but had to sell a bunch in recent years.. :(

Here are some pics of my mag collection.

Also, I'm a game reviewer in the new magazine, Classic Video Gamer. I did the review for CyberMorph in the 1st issue. I'll hopefully be doing reviews for the mag for a long time!

Let me see if I can translate for the Hulk.

"Kevin, I'd be delighted if you were to send me some magazines to scan. Please send me a private message and we can continue our conversation."

How you got all of that out of hulks message I will never know. I do know of many intelligence agencies that would love to have you on their payroll though.

Oh I know the phrase very well, being born and raised in the S.F. Bay Area... ;) It's just that, I would expect a longer and more appreciate message from someone who was interested in scanning some of my mags... ;) "Hook it up yo" throws up all kinds of red flags, as far as sending a stranger potentially valuable magazines!

For someone seriously considering taking me up on my offer, I would expect a more... MATURE response than that! Also he's a Newbie... Another red flag. :P I know I know, I'm a Newbie too...

LOL, feelings mutual my friend. :D

yeah, I was excited about the prospect of seeing some new magazines get cataloged;

I never expected "hook it up yo" to turn into a big brouhaha. I just figured everyone

would find it mildly amusing--never sketchy. anyways...yea.

it would be very much appreciated if the gentleperson from CA would "hookith it up"

sincerely,

Mr. Hulk M. Cohen.

I apologize for creating the broohaha :) I think we all found it amusing. Anyways, is it mere coincidence that your name so closely resembles Hulk Hogan? If so, what is Hulk a nickname for?

  • 2 weeks later...

It is probably cheaper to just get the flat rate box they offer for something like $8, unless you don't mind telling the Post Office a little lie and can get the issues shipped media mail (I have shipped something like 29 3/4 pounds of mags media mail for around $23-don't do it often though as they will start asking questions and may even require you open it in front of them to quelch suspsicions).

Ya, Media Mail is risky if you are shipping a bunch of mags. I've had large boxes of magazines I shipped media mail returned to me. :(

I have a bunch to send out to a member that bought them from me but I am under some kind of review thing with the post office for sending mags with media mail (they delivered them but now have an investigation open on me).  lol  Probably will get a fine but oh well.  I will be getting the rest out as soon as I can though (hopefully that member is reading this, I haven't forgotten).

They didn't fine me, only made me pay the difference between shipping Media Mail vs. Parcel Post. It really irritated me, because I've given the PO thousands of dollars in business over the years...

To make things even more interesting, I knew which postal "jerk-clerk" gave me the run-around. This guy hassled me about the big box of mags when I sent them out. He's like "you're sure these are books?" I'm like "ya..." Thinking to myself "what is it to you anyway?".. When I went back to the same post office to pay the difference and get the mags shipped out (AGAIN..), I happened to get this guy again and right away when he saw me, the look of guilt on his face was obvious. He knew I was quite annoyed and knew that I knew that, he was the one that opened the box to inspect it... Needless to say, I haven't been back to the post office in some months now. It really turned me off to the idea of selling stuff for the time being.

An Ebay user also screwed me over around that time. Some lady won a top loader NES from me, filed a claim against me saying it was broken, so I had to give her money back and the *female dog* sent it back to me in a box FULL of FINELY shredded paper, making a huge mess for me. And guess what, the Top Loader still worked perfectly just like I stated in the auction.
