Thats right, Retromags adds yet another "#1" to our collection. We proudly acquired the very first issue of Game Informer from 1991 yesterday. Its asking price was $99, but through careful negotiations we got it for $65.50.

Why on earth would you buy this item from billmarioman from Ebay? All he does is bid super high on an auction (no matter what it is or worth) then as soon as he receives the item he puts it back to auction usually at double or more than what he paid. All he is doing is trying to drive up prices an force collectors to buy from his store. Buying from him will just motivate him to do the same thing again and again.

What really gets me is Bill beat me out on this auction about 4 or 5 month ago... You know what my bid was? $65. He wound up paying a little more. Why would he sell this for less than what he paid... sigh, makes no sense to me. I guess I just didn't like loosing this auction to someone who would wind up selling it for the price I bid at in the first place. Kind of a slap to the face, but that is what I would expect from someone like billmarioman. Well, that's it for my venting. At least many people can enjoy this issue now. One thing though. The issue you guys now have looked to be in awesome shape. Take care while scanning it. There aren't many in such nice condition anymore. ENJOY

Exactly, I was a bidder on that auction also. I know that BillMarioMan paid around $67 for this issue about 5 months ago.....I got it off him for $65. After I scan this magazine I will relist it on ebay for $0.99 and let it sell. I have been searching Ebay for years, I cant even remember seeing the first issue of Game Informer in those years. As long as I can get at least $40 out of reselling.....I will be happy :D

Old thread but has this not been scanned yet? I take it if it's not in the downloads section, it's not been scanned, right? Not sure if the downloads page is ever purged. I am uploading Issue #3 as we speak and also will do #5 shortly so if #1 is scanned we'll have the first five here. If not, no big deal, just curious.

Interesting there Tony.  It would be great to have the first 5 of Game Informer available (I am still waiting for #4 of Gamefan to be scanned, that will give us the first 6 or 7 of that one too).

As far as the download section getting purged, sure, it does here and there, when it needs it (we recently removed close to 100 issues that were of extreme low quality and didn't represent the magazines in question in a good light).  We are not trying to impose unreasonable restrictions on any of the members making donations here, just that if the mag in question looks like it should be thrown away due to damage and such, then maybe something else would be better scanned.
