List Of What's Available?

Is there a list of what's here and what's not besides what's in the "downloads" section? I have lots of older magazines, mid 80's to 90's that I am willing to scan. I just don't want to scan some and find out they're already here.

Ok, I looked through them and this is most of them:

Edit: I also have lots of Nintendo Power mags but they're apparently covered here. My goal is, if not for others, but for myself, transfer them to digital to save physical space. And after scanning, sell or give them away. Though I'm afraid like quantum physics, they will be destroyed in the process if I have to splice but it's fine with me as long as they won't sell for anything.

I have been working a little here and there on such a list (it gets out of hand quickly) and just how to present it.  The easiest way would be to list your mags that you have available and post what you are thinking about scanning first.  That way, people can see what you have and comment on it if they are scanning that issue too.

It's a potential problem, but it doesn't happen often, especially if you have something that is rare. We used to have a "work in progress" site, but it was too much of a pain to always keep updated. Plus nobody really used it, so it defeated the purpose. Try to find the most rare thing you have and scan that first. Otherwise, just pick something and hope nobody else is scanning it. As long as we only have about 10 people scanning, this isn't a big problem. It would be a problem though if we had 50, with multiple people scanning the same magazine.

I guess we'll tackle that problem when we get there :)

I think the simplest way is what I am trying on the Wiki......note it is not complete....but I think its simplicity would work out in the end.....

http://www.retromags.com/wiki/Retromags_Projects_Page

A simple list on the wiki that everyone can edit......split up by magazine and year......where we say the following next to the name.....

Not Scanned

Scanned

Editing

Complete

Not trying to fence dance here on this subject, though I am doing a good job at a one man square dance, but I agree with the post by Phillyman, the wiki will allow anyone to edit it and change what they are doing (something that was cumbersome on the WIP we had, though it was cool too).

If we over complicate things, no one will want to go through the trouble to keep it updated. The tracker system we had required our members to sign up for a third account on Retromags. The system E-day has with the colorized wiki tables is nice.....but just changing a color from orange to blue is a hassle when you have that much code to stare at.....it makes my eyes bleed. Just a flat list.....that everyone can edit.....sounds the best to me.

I agree about the flat list.  I have been trying to organize a simple text file but I keep getting sidetracked on other things when I end up stalled because I can't get an issue number for a magazine (like the original EG's).

Thats the best thing, we dont need an issue number.....even the volume/number combo will work with this system
