Scanner Was Fast, Now Slow To Start

Scanner is Canon 8400f on Vista 64. For some reason, it keeps saying "adjusting lamp" for about a minute before scanning and before it was only a few seconds. I had this happen before and not sure why it started working at normal speed again. In between scanning the Mario Paint mag it just started doing it. Anyone have a clue? No variables changed in between the scanning, afaik.

You may need to unplug it from power and the computer for awhile and see if it fixes it.  I have an older Lexmark and I have to do that every once in awhile myself (it starts scanning like I set it at 900 DPI-really really slow untill I let it sit for a bit).

Been googling and apparently it seems you're closer to base than I am. It seems it could be an inverter, lamp heater, or some such technical issue. It's been doing it almost ever since I bought it and other than that, it's been a great scanner as far as quality and speed goes.
