Sports games are the textbooks of the video game industry. You have to buy the current year version as soon as it becomes available so you can play with all your friends, and then when it's time to trade them back in, the store gives you fifty cents because next year's version is already out. I don't understand why people fall for this every single year, but it's one more reason why I don't play sports games. :)

People complain about it every year, and then turn around and buy the new Madden game every year. One of the things I was hoping downloadable content would do is put an end to this yearly nonsense. Release "John Madden NFL Football", and just update the rosters and tweakadd control options through DLC.

In any case, I am stcking with NHL 10 for a long time.

E-Day, E-Day, E-Day...you clearly don't understand how Electronic Arts works. Why make $10 a year per player by doing a DLC update when you can make $60 per player a year by requiring people to purchase an entirely new game, and then get them to spend another $5-10 to buy their way to the top by paying to unlock stuff? :)
