Mortal Kombat

Ah, Mortal Kombat...the game that very nearly single-handedly gave Sega absolute and complete dominance in the 16-bit console wars. I still laugh at Nintendo's decision to censor the game, and how their managers must have been pulling their hair out to watch the Genesis version out-sell their gimped version at a ratio of 3:1 over the course of 1993-94. :)

It's a shame, because with the exception of the whole "censored" aspect, the SNES version is easily the superior version in terms of graphics, music and controls. Good thing they learned their lesson when it came to MK II. Then we SNES owners got the last laugh. ;)

And here we have all of the SNES Mortal Kombat fatalites demonstrated for your pleasure in one...er..."konvenient" package...

Is anyone else surprised the Genesis version outsold the Super Nintendo version now? :)

The only good thing that came from the MK censorship was Sub-Zero's Deep Freeze Fatality!

Oh by the way thank you for bringing this up Areala because on my video I made

Everyone is ripping me a new one because of all the stuff the SNES had over the Genesis verion I still went with the Genesis version because of the blood. I finally had to add an annotation explaining why I the Blood in Mortal Kombat matters. WHICH I SHOULD NOT EVEN HAVE TO DO!

Wait a bloody minute here...

Are you telling me that Sub-Zero's gimped SNES fatality is, in any way, shape or form superior to the single best fatality ever conceived in the series, the spine-rip?

Please tell me that I am terribly confused and you didn't mean what it sounded like you meant. :)

No I'm not saying that at all the spine rip is probably the best fatality ever, but I'm saying with out the SNES Deep Freeze fatality (censored) the Deep Freeze never would have made to MKII (uncensored).

Boy I must have really worried you or made you mad you gave no huggles. ;)

Well...I was a bit concerned, but I figured it was safer to think I misunderstood you.

If I was mad, you'd have known it. :P

It might seem this way, but I really do manually type it in at the end of every post. It probably annoys people, but hey, if you're annoyed with a huggle, then there's not much left that I can do for you in this life. :)

Screw the 16 bit versions, The Sega CD version ruled them all!! Just kidding about that :P

Actually, the Sega CD version isn't too bad, mostly thanks to the DULLARD code. The load times are atrocious, but if you can get by those and the Genesis-quality graphics, it's not a bad translation from the arcade.

Now, you wanna talk about a well-done port? MK II on the Saturn was boss... :)
