Right now I have the following certifications....

Comptia A+

Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)

Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST)

I am going to be studying to acquire the following...

Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)

Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)

Its only 1 test that I need to take, so I am studying at work in my down time, plus the nice thing about the test is it will count towards me going and getting my Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA). Wish me luck :)

Good luck.  I recently took a sample test for the A+ certification and failed (because I know nothing of Laser Printers).  It was one of those that tell you what you missed so you can brush up.

Keep a clear head and all of that stuff, but since you have those other certs, I am sure you know this already.

Best of luck!

These exams are for Windows Tech Support/IT? (I know MS has hundreds of different tests)

MCTS

The Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certifications provide the foundation for Microsoft Certification. These certifications are designed to validate your skills on the features and functionality of key technologies. You can show your depth of knowledge in one specific technology, earn multiple MCTS certifications to show breadth across different products, or build on the MCTS to earn a Professional Series credential.

MCTS candidate profile

MCTS candidates are capable of implementing, building, troubleshooting, and debugging a particular Microsoft technology.

Why get certified?

Earning a Microsoft Certification validates your proven experience and knowledge in using Microsoft products and solutions. Designed to be relevant in today's rapidly changing IT marketplace, Microsoft Certifications help you utilize evolving technologies, fine-tune your troubleshooting skills, and improve your job satisfaction.

Whether you are new to technology, changing jobs, or a seasoned IT professional, becoming certified demonstrates to customers, peers, and employers that you are committed to advancing your skills and taking on greater challenges. In addition, certification provides you with access to exclusive Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) resources and benefits, including opportunities to connect with a vast, global network of MCPs.

MCITP

The Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) credential validates that an individual has the comprehensive set of skills necessary to perform a particular job role, such as database administrator or enterprise messaging administrator. MCITP certifications build on the technical proficiency measured in the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certifications, therefore you will earn one or more MCTS certifications on your way to earning an MCITP credential.

MCITP candidate profile

MCITP candidates are capable of deploying, building, designing, optimizing, and operating technologies for a particular job role. They make the design and technology decisions necessary to ensure successful technology implementation projects.

Don't feel bad, triverse. I just barely passed the test latter half of the A+ that included laser printers and it was the part I feared. Never made any use of the cert yet and likely won't. Any job I'm cut out for in the industry would likely be rather mundane. Meh, maybe I'll make use of it when I get too old for construction. I love computers, always have, but I fear when using one becomes part of work, it'll take away the fun.

Is their any particular order you would recommend taking these courses?

If you had to take it all again what do you recommend?

How much of this do they actually teach you?

The MCSA isn't really that bad as you have worked up all of the other classes by the time you get to it. None of the tests are really that hard (compared to some of the other exams out there like the Patent and Trademark Bar exam). If you actually do the reading, it should be an auto pass for you. You have some of the "harder" ones under your belt allready.

Good luck!

Good luck! I used to go to DeVry Long Beach before I had to move back home. I wish I could've finished my ECT course...

I'm always really happy and impressed with people who go through all the work of finishing college. I really admire when people can stick to something so well and not get intimidated or overwhelmed and back out. I hope someday I can get the open time to go back.
