August, what can really be said about the month that for many (that didn't return to school in July) marks the end of their Summer vacation? Well, some good things we got this month, Sega released the Genesis on the 14th 20 years ago and we had some pretty cool issues get released this month.

1999: First stop in the Retromags time machine and we have our first Sega Dreamcast magazine available here on Retromags. This was the year that annoying little children started running around saying "I see dead people" and freaking out the elderly in Wal-Mart stores across the US with the release of M. Night Shyamalan's Sixth Sense in theaters. America became entranced with trivia shows again with ABC's "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" show and wrestling fans saw the debut of the juggernaut called Smackdown! (and The Rock chuckles all the way to the bank knowing another one of his catchphrases will live on). Across the pond we had a solar eclipse in Europe and Asia and while in this area of the world, we can't help but mention that two days before on the 9th Russian President Boris Yeltsin fires his Prime Minister, Sergei Stepashin, and even fires his entire cabinet (this being the fourth time he has fired his cabinet).
