Oh lord, I used to stare at this advertisement obsessively in my brother's old EGM's, trying to figure out what the game was about. I had only caught glimpses of anime on TV (Dragonball Z not having caught on at this point- the cornerstone of anime fandom for my generation), and was completely fascinated by the art style.

I eventually did read the Ranma manga and wasn't too into it. Perhaps if I had gotten into it when I was younger I would've gotten what all the fuss was about.
