Novelist Irvine Welsh wrote the books Trainspotting and the sequel Porno. It's about a group of Scottish 20 year olds. Some of them have a heroin addiction and the other Begby has a social problem. In 96 it was the best movie around. The main reason the 2nd book hasn't been made is because director Danny Boyle wants the cast to be 20 years older. Ewan McGregor is said to be returning but there's nothing on paper yet. If you didn't know, Ewan McGregor was cast as Anakin Skywalker for Star Wars episode 2 Attack of the Clones.

If this 20 years older idea stands true I will have to wait 7 more years. It's something to wait for but 7 years is so long away.

A quick correction:

Ewan McGregor was cast as Obi-Wan Kenobi, not Anakin Skywalker, in the Star Wars prequel films.

Put me firmly in the "I dislike Trainspotting" camp. Thought the film was terrible, thought the book was awful, and I cannot believe that a sequel is even being considered even though it would be another 7 years before it appeared. Give me a frigging break...let the horrible movie about a bunch of stupid junkies trashing their lives and the lives of everyone around them just DIE already.

Whoops. Your right about Ewan but I thought it was a great story and if nothing else a great example of what not to do.

I want to know what happens to these guys in the future as worse people than drug addicts are allowed to live.

Trainspotting is definitely in my top 20 or so movie's. Brilliant Director and Cast and the music is amazing in it too. There are a few stomach churning pieces in it but the movie is about junkie's in Edinburgh so I guess that's to be expected. The book it's based on is also great. It's kind of like reading A Clockwork Orange, as at first it's difficult to understand the language being used by the character's but after a while you get used to it.

I never read the sequel so I don't know what happened to the character's but it would be really interesting to see a movie that shows what became of them. God know's what that psycho Begby got up to.

Seriously, you want to know why making "Porno" into a film is a bad idea? Don't want to read the book to find out? Let me explain...

Renton does exactly the same thing at the end of Porno as he does at the end of Trainspotting. That's right: sets up all his buddies and gets away with the cash again. This is interesting...why?
