Eternal Champions

Nine of the greatest fighters throughout history have met untimely and unjust deaths. They now compete against each other for a chance to face the "Eternal Champion" and reclaim their souls. The victor will return to Earth with the chance to change their fate and restore balance to the universe.

I like how Sega took the best elements of Mortal Kombat (finishing moves) and Street Fighter (Gameplay) and created their own fighting system with taunts. I used to play this on the Genesis all the time but the Sega CD version was superior. There were more levels, more moves and best of all more ways to kill. When you built up your internal strength you could use your special moves by pressing A+B+C or X+Y+Z.

Executing Sudden Deaths and Overkills.

In order to properly execute a Overkill you must: be in the last round,

victim is in front of the background "trigger", and the victor hits with a

blow that does 5% or more damage. For the Sudden Death to be properly

executed you must: be in the last round, victim must have 20% energy or less,

and the victor hits with a move that does 10% damage.

This game was released for the Wii Virtual Console in 2007 but it wasn't as good as the Sega CD version and the Sega Team that made it (Deep Water) was dispanded years ago after they dropped this 2D fighter to develop Virtual Fighter 3D.

These are just the cinekills

I had this game for the Mega Drive and liked it a lot. I prefered the two Street Fighter 2 game's but this had a lot going for it as well. It looked really good, very colourful and there was always a lot going on in the background stages.

I remember there was a pterodactyl flying around in the background of the cave man's stage and a huge dinosaur which would come from the side of the screen and eat you sometime's if you lost the fight.

I also remember it had a lot of training mode's and a cool replay feature. The Mega CD version look's even better but I still had a lot of fun with the Mega Drive version. :)

Yeahhh... I just started playing my friend's copy of EC:Challenge on Sega CD and I cannot beat the first enemy I'm playing against. I've also read some moves list FAQs and it says it's almost impossible to actually pull off any of the finishers on computer opponents. I even have it on the easiest difficulty.
