PlaySEGA.com offering Saturn -type controllers for sale with subscription!

Recommended Posts

I figured any of you who may not know about this yet might like to know..

Head on over to www.playSEGA.com to play official flash emulated recreations of your favorite Sega games of old. While you're there you may be interested in joining PlaySEGA VIP, where you'll have the option to order the PlaySEGA controller, which looks to be an official release of the Saturn controller for USB use(read: confirmed PS3 compatible!)!

All you have to do is sign up. You'll get a free VIP pass, but you can then add a subscription if you'd like, which allows you the option of buying a USB compatible Saturn-type controller for 4.95 added shipping(3 month sub minumum)! Good deal! Add the promocode 'segafans' for 15% off, and you're set!

17.70 isn't a bad price to pay for a USB Saturn pad, not to mention the official online retro Sega flash games!

I already have an account there so it was fast to extend my account to the play games section. There's a 10 day free trial for anyone to play games. I needed to upgrade my Java to play but it was only 10 megabytes.

Seen as how Sega bought the emulator Giri Giri from a private coding team to download and play Saturn games in Japan, they should make those available too. The emulator Sega developed for the Sega Smash Pack series on Dreamcast years ago is capable of loading any Genesis rom or even Sega CD images with a little work.

This is great news for cloud computing. Maybe Sega will have all their games available through a Java encoded web page one day?

Read this in the forum for the official offer. Sega is cool and one day I will learn Japanese and work for them.

And you don't need a controller. I still use a Logitech Dual Action to play everything with. The games are mapped to your keyboard by default so all you need is Joy2Key or Xpadder to map your controller to the keypoard. There's no analog for the Genesis anyways.

I would love to see them emulate Saturn games through that site if possible, or just release an emulator to buy or use. I don't know. I love the Saturn.

Some people at the forums at Shoryuken.com compared this pad with an original Saturn pad and the knock-offs you find on eBay, and they are confirmed real Saturn controllers, just a different color.

I would also love them to emulate Saturn games. I still remember when I first played the Saturn. It was at a small video game shop in my town. You payed for X # of minutes to play a game at the shop. Rediculous, I know :bag: But, that's where I first played NiGHTS, Sonic R and a few others

I completely forgot about that site. I tried to sign up for an account and it said my username was already in use "DarakuTenshi" and I thought... na, no way! So I signed in and sure enough. It all started to come back to me as I looked around. I realized that I've been to that site. I signed up when they first opened their doors and never went back because they have all those lame games unless your willing to pay money. And for what? To play old games that I already have on several consoles. I don't think so. I would like to get that controller though.
