KI2 Pics I am searching for..

Hello everyone!

I am seeking for some Killer Instinct 2 pics I cannot find easily in the old 1995-1996 mags.

I need those one:

ki2y.jpg

I'd be thankful if someone has a mag with those pics(I'm sure there are some of those with the white names under the energy bar, that are a bit different of those found in the Nintendo Power still white but a bit stretched and the graphic is not that green).

Thanks in advance!

Ah thanks a lot!

Basically I am obsessed with this game, but reason why I am searching for the KI2 beta version is to control some changes in the ultimate version with yellow character names.

The first pictures ever published were like the one I posted here before. Now if you are speaking of KI2 beta it should be at last with white names. I don't know if it has the graphic slightly green like the picture posted, but should be something like that.

Anyway there's another weird thing about KI2 "beta version".

For example I have found a KI2 preview with both white and yellow name mixed, and even in the yellow name there are some changes:

Here Spinal teleport on the ground is supported with a flame, instead of that kind of sparkles in the ordinary KI2 version

And here the flame within the Stonehenge well is quite bigger that the one in the ultimate game.

(incrdible you found something that old! In years of research, all I have found was a video of the beta KIGold, a little bit different from the final version).

Ok let me see the video! :)

According to what you said I guess it's not a video of the Beta arcade. But here is the download ... sorry I can't find it now but I found it here http://killerinstinctonline.net/index.htm

As for the SNES beta I found that today as well but I don't want to post those links but you can search for them on Google and find it really easily.

I don't know what you are talking about. The only reason we know of KI2's existence on the SNES is because a former Rare employee we contacted told us that it was complete (before that, it was merely listed on a "rumours" list in an issue of Gamepro). There is no ROM image of it, let alone any information on KI2 for the SNES outside of what I have on my website.

The reason you don't know what I'm talking about was because I thought you were talking about the SNES KI Beta not KI2. You never specified the KI2 Beta you just said the SNES one. Try and be more specific. Yes I understand this topic is about KI2 but with the way you worded that and just jumped in and started talking about something as an off shoot kind of convoluted the conversation. Just calm down and step away from the keyboard.

Don't take my post as being derogatory. I did assume that you would figure out that I would have been talking about KI2 in a thread discussing KI2 betas, especially when I said "unreleased snes version".

You should check out my site sometime, I have lots of information on over 100 unreleased snes games.

Anyway guys, there's another reason if I want to regain the KI2 beta pics. I would like to put them on the web, in order to know if there's anyone that has a KI2 beta arcade and if it's possible to make up a rom.

Basically even in the middle of the 90'(but sure you know that better than me) the most important source of pics/info about every game was the mags.

Actually it's pretty hard(impossbile in certain case) to find pics of older games that are not taken from some bad emulation.(like the almost every KI2 pics on google, since the arcade monitor has a more intense colour/contrast)

Therefore, since I can cleary remember every issue ever published with KI2 beta pics, I must get back everything.

Comparing the various mags cover with the older released in my country, I bet that the remaining pics of the KI2 beta-greeny graphic-white names- should be a number of Game Players.

However, coming back to the speech of the remote possibility to know whether could exist a beta rom, these are the "intermediate" pics that set the KI2 evolution(and that probably still exists in a Jamma):

You said the beta had white names.

But I think that may just be a bad photo. They just took a snapshot using a camera and it messed with the colors on screen. I'll bet those names do have a yellow hue to them. So that video I was watching was beta. On top of that the glitches that appeared while they characters were fighting makes me believe even more that it was a beta.

I can assure you that the beta version(thus playble and presented in late 95') has that white names.

Moreover, the pics I posted just before are from the #82 of Nintendo power and EMG #80.

Anyway, could exist the possibility that there's a second beta version that has yellow name, infact in the EMG number, as I was speaking of before, there are both kind of names in the same preview.

About the video you are talking about I haven't found anything.(I don't know what video you meant).

Well I've tried to upload it to Mega Upload and to my file host but I'm having issues so I'm upping it to YouTube since I can't find the original download. I may have gotten the site wrong. But I'm setting this video as private so give me your youtube name and I'll add you to the list so that you can see it or download it.

[edit]

Nope I guess the video is too long I can't upload it.

Send me a PM if you have an email address that allows any file size. About 70 megs so I can email it to you.

Case closed. The video is not a Beta version of KI2 since ad I said even to Thor via PM the former version of KI2 the fatalities were missing.

It's simply a video that lists every glitch of the game.

But I thank him for his interest.

So please anyone get the pics I need(like the one in my firt post here -white names; greeny graphics-) I'd like to have them.

Maybe you guys can debunk this for me. On a web page called Lauras MIDI Haven there are two songs that they claim are Killer Instinct 2 for the Super NES.

http://www.laurasmidiheaven.com/0vg/SuperNintendo-KillerInstinct2.shtml

I haven't found any other solid evidence of Killer Instinct 2 being in playable form for Super Nintendo. Digit Press confirmed this 7 years ago.

http://www.digitpress.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-15553.html

I looked through some Gamepros starting with the review of Killer Instinct for SNES in issue 74 September 1995 and finishing at October 1997.

In Issue 80 March 1996 they had a Hot At The Arcades Review of Killer Instinct 2

gameproissue080march199.jpggameproissue080march199.jpg

Then in Issue 85 August 1996 on page 30 of the archive they mentioned Killer Instinct at E3 for N64.

gameproissue085august19.jpg

In Issue 88 November 1996 on page 45 of the archive Scary Larry previewed Killer Instinct Gold for N64

gameproissue088november.jpg

In Issue 91 February 1997 on page 64 of the archive they reviewed Killer Instinct Gold for N64

I must thank a lot Jake for the pics and the two links!!

About the two KI2 midi for SNES, I'm not sure about their reliability nor how could be uploaded online.

Anyway I'd like to clariry more the speech of the KI2 white name as the former beta version ever.

Searching again, I have found one of the two site that talk about of KI2 beta as played game.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/coinop/arcade/file/583591/582

Here on the section rumors, the guy explain that on the beta version there were the humiliation, than removed, but even if it's a rumor, on the other site I have read that they replaced them to the 2nd ultimate. So the KI2 beta had just one ultimate and an humiliation per character.(and of course in this faq there's the explaination for every glitch).

And to confirm the rumor of the guy about the humiliation in the beta version, here we have the pic of Jake:

ki22.jpg

Moreover there's an explanation why the guy at Rare decided to change the names(since the several preview, has white names).

Several years ago I talked to a guy that played the beta KI2(with white names) and I asked his a lot of things, such as the character color missing(green orchid etc) and the names.

Basically he said me that there was a glitch. Sometimes when the brief FMV that introduce the stage ends and there's the READY, one character name "disappear". It was irrelevant both on player and CPU.

Thus, on the 2nd beta version of KI2(the one with some changes such as the bigger flame on the Stonehenge, with yellow names) the guy at rare, probably fixing the glitch they have edited them widely.

EDIT:

I just want add the pic of KIG beta found in a video of the E3 96:

hfg.jpgkib.jpg

and of course the whole video:

The beta stonehenge could be seen at 3:39

Here the shots are in a similar angle of the stage; the camera is more aimed to the sky instead of the final version of the Stonehenge and the well seems missing while clouds run like the one of KI2.
