No one here would ask money for any scan, or take money for it. Besides, that's probably illegal. Most scanners that get requests seem to do them once they have the time to get around to it, as it takes time and hard work to scan and edit these magazines.

Not probably, it is illegal. Just about everything we do is illegal, but we stay out of trouble by not doing exactly what Josh asked.

The whole magazine preservation scene is built upon theft of intellectual property. We do it because the publishers don't do it. However, if you noted on the front page of the site we generally don't post much beyond 1999 in an effort to convince publishers that we aren't out to cannibalise their business sales. Staying a decade away from current releases is our way of doing that but if they choose to asset their rights we will comply immediately. End of story.

Your asking if someone had a physical copy they wanted to sell was completely above board and perfectly fine. However, asking for a PDF of a 2010/2011 magazine falls outside the guidelines on the site and if we provided it then publishers would see that we aren't staying true to the rules of the site.

No one demonized you. I can understand your need/desire for a specific article. But scanning it - especially for money - goes against the whole purpose of this site, and puts us at risk of getting shut down. It's not that no one wants to help you; it's that we can't without putting ourselves at risk. I am sure if you search online hard enough, you'll come across what you need.
