Mar 08, 2010 – While official gaming scorekeepers Twin Galaxies have been busy watching the World Record score on New Super Mario Bros. Wii changing almost daily, a New York man has taken Mario's first adventure to never before seen heights.

35-year-old plastic surgeon Hank Chien of New York, New York has set a new World Record on the original Donkey Kong arcade game, racking up 1,061,700 points in 2 hours, 35 minutes according to Twin Galaxies officials, ending the game on the famed "kill screen" glitch that does not allow play to continue.

Chien's new scoring mark beats the 1,050,200 point record score set by Florida's Billy Mitchell at a live event in Florida in July 2007.

Twin Galaxies officials David Nelson of New Hampshire and Eric Akeson of Washington state verified Hank Chien's record game, done on an original Donkey Kong machine in New York.

Twin Galaxies International has served as the official scorekeeping organization for video gaming since it's formation in 1981. Recognized by Guinness World Records and international news sources, www.TwinGalaxies.com contains record times and scores from it's inception up to the most modern hits for the Nintendo Wii, XBox 360, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation 3. The international organization is being used to verify the winner of 2KSports $1,000,000 prize for the new Major League Baseball 2k10 video game.

I'm glad there's new competition for Donkey Kong. There's alot of tricks to surviving this game that I haven't come close to mastering. There's got to be a maximum possible score achievable in Donkey Kong when you take in to account the level time limits and the total limit that the arcade sets at 3 hours per game. The top four scores have been within a few thousand.

If you find anything else about the Major League Baseball 2k10 tournament, let me know. I'm waiting for the PC version to arrive in the mail.

That's pretty amazing. I still can't beat the first level sometimes.. =/ Depends on how crazy the machine gets with me.. Donkey Kong on NES is a lot easier it seems like.

Guess I'm pretty behind on the DK scene. I just watched Fistful of Quarters:King of Kong the other day. That movies way outdated now!

The biggest problem with TG is that there is

absolutely no video for us. At least there never

were a video that I was aware of...

And that is why I usually ignore that site and go

for SDA. Not that one can say that the videos there

are 100% legit. They probably are. At least most of

them seem to be. I don't know, I think I'll never be

sure unless someone run the game right before my eyes

using my own machine. Anyway, legit or not, "having

videos" beats the heck out of "not having videos"

Maybe things have changed and I just wasn't able

to find the video... I don't know. Anyway, congrats

to the fella
