Pandora Handheld

The Pandora is a handheld game console designed to take advantage of existing open source software and to be a target for home-brew development. It is developed by OpenPandora, which is made up of former distributors and community members of the GP32 and GP2X handhelds.

The designers of Pandora stated that it would be more powerful than any handheld video game console that existed when it was announced.

It includes several features that no handheld game consoles have previously had, making it a cross between a handheld game console and a subnotebook. OpenPandora began taking pre-orders for one batch of 4000 devices in 2008 and after manufacturing delays, expected to ship them to customers in the second quarter of 2010. The Pandora began shipping to customers on May 21, 2010.

You won't find these in WalMart. These were designed by a small company called Pandora. No, not WalMart but you can find them at http://www.gbax.com/ , http://www.gp2x.de/shop/index.php , http://www.gp2xtr.com/ and one on Ebay.

So, can I have one mommy?

What? Why would you use the same designations of the SNES controller but put them in different places?

And, why can no one but Nintendo and Sony make a 4-way D-Pad? Those 8-way ones are a pain to hold straight right on (so I accidentally keep making Mario duck when I don't want to for example).

The XBOX controller is also screwed up like that.

I recently bought a Mad Catz 360 controller that has the proper + shaped D-pad. I have a feeling it's a real bad licensing issue.

  • 1 month later...

I just got a Dingoo A320 for my birthday, well worth $99!

I own one as well. Just got the MiniSD adapter. Too bad I can't talk about it on here due to the anti-emulator stance. :)

Seriously, I'm going to try to get dingux installed on it one of these days.

LOL I have one too! Only mine is defective the SD slot does not work any time you put a card in the system it shuts off. So I can only play using the on-board memory. And will never get to see it's potential.

Though earlier this month I ordered a GBA Clone that also has on-board memory to play GBA games or play through the GBA slot... I'm excited to try that one out.
