Unintentionally Hilarious Safety Video

At least I hope it was unintentional. The idea that somebody might have deliberately made it this awful scares me.

Some things to keep in mind while watching:

1 - The singing. As my friend said, "It sounds like somebody putting a cat through a wringer." I couldn't agree more.

2 - Does anybody else get the impression the people who made this one were frustrated, unsuccessful horror film directors? 99% of the budget obviously went towards the special effects and makeup, which might explain why the song is so terrible...1% of $200 isn't a lot to work with. :)

3 - ERI is a real company that produces real videos, and is still in business. This particular little 5-minute short can be found in their most recent catalogue and sells for $149. Other versions of their videos and DVDs sell for as much as $700+, or can be rented for a month for $200-300. You know, in case your office wants to have a party or something I guess?

4 - I wasn't aware that pipe wrenches could embed themselves in someone's skull.

5 - What purpose does the machine at 4:08 possibly serve except to grind people into hamburger? Does anyone know?

6 - Hands up if you were expecting something godawful to happen to the kid at the end? Daddy comes home from work after being safe all day only to, I dunno, crush little Suzie under the garage door inadvertently or something? You know, for irony's sake?

7 - What zeeb would ever consider coming to work wearing one (presumably steel-toed) work boot and one beat-up old sneaker? Are you kidding me? You are so disorganized that you can't find the other member of your pair of boots?

8 - When being run through a baling machine, one of the side-effects will be that your screams of agony are slowed to the ears of other witnesses. People not aware you are being packed for shipment will assume you are just doing your Godzilla impersonation again. The same goes for having a truck collapse on your leg, steam exploding into your face, or an electrical accident.

9 - Death is stronger than pride, in case you don't realize how cool safety is. Remember that, kids, it could save your life some day. "Now we know!" And knowing is half the battle.

10 - Can somebody please explain to me what happened at 2:18? Because it looks for the life of me like she just faints into all the chemicals despite wearing a chemical suit and respirator.

Enjoy, and just "think about this" for a while!

*huggles*
