No Immediate Plans For Xbox 360 Price Drop

One of Micrisoft's PR managers posted on his blog that "there are currently no plans for a price drop this fall". You can read the original post HERE.

I know that this will disappoint some of the members of this forum as I have read posts by people hoping for such a price drop.

On a related note: It's my opinion that Microsoft's refusal to lower the 360's price will strengthen the market for the Wii this fall.

... and the other reason they really don't need to drop the price? Because even at $400, they're coming in $200 lower at each price point then the PS3 is going to. Sure, they could afford to lower it, and should the PS3 take any kind of hold, they will, but they are still at a price advantage.

And yes, this makes the Nintendo Wii that much nicer! :)

Wii should win over the console market as the "Second Choice"......which is a good thing since they pretty much came in Third place with the Gamecube

And with the stranglehold that they have on the handheld market, anything they gain in consoles is nothing but icing on the cake.

The big question is whether or not Nintendo will be able to accomplish their goal of getting non-gamers an former gamers interested. If they are able to do this then they could sell more consoles than Sony or Microsoft. Another possibility is that of the three consoles of the next generation, the Wii will be the no brainer system to own. Some will buy a 360, those who have the funds will buy a PS3, but most of them will buy a Wii.

The next year should be interesting...
