Sad news :(

The gunman was dead inside Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, state police Lieutenant Paul Vance told a news conference.

Vance said the gunman killed 18 children and six adults at the school and two wounded children died later in the hospital. Another person connected to the suspect was found dead at a house in Newtown, bringing the death toll to 28.

One of the dead was the shooter's mother, a teacher at the school, The New York Times reported, citing a law enforcement official. The New York Times also reported that the gunman killed himself at the scene.

The suspected gunman entered the school as children were gathered in their classrooms for morning meeting. He was armed with four weapons and wore a bullet-proof vest, WABC reported.

If confirmed, it would be one of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history. The holiday season tragedy was the second shooting rampage in the United States this week and was certain to revive a debate about U.S. gun laws.

While you bend over and take it up the arse from the NRA gun nuts and no political party is prepared to stand up and change the fifth amendment I guess "unplanned population control" is going to happen again and again and again.

Anyway .... next time someone comes calling they'll probably Neutron bomb the whole place anyway so they can use the amenities afterwards. What good is the fifth then? The world has changed in 100 years but unfortunately the American constitution remains in the dark ages.

I knew there was one in there to bear arms .... whichever one it is it sucks!!! I don't really follow US shenanigans living where I do but every time something like this happens it reinforces the opinion that people there are too wound up on protecting liberties rather than looking at the personal cost those liberties inflict.

On top of that, they are liberties that they don't really need because life would go on exactly the same without that amendment, except that there would be less instances like this. The US is still in the Dark Ages on some issues, and seem to be very fearful of change, even when other modern countries have already moved forward with no ill consequences.

But the people committing these shootings aren't criminals; they all seem to have no criminal records. But they all seem to have mental issues. Criminals don't tend to just go shoot random people; it's usually someone who is targeted or someone who was in the middle of a crime happening.

But everything can be solved by having armed guards in all the schools. Of course! Thank you, NRA, for that insightful proposition! What could possibly go wrong have young school children around guns when they are at school? Plus, you're probably guaranteeing tons of new members down the road by normalizing guns being around to young kids.
