Scanned my first cover

So I scanned my first cover for Gamefan 79 that I'm about to sell on eBay. Is that typical for glossy covers to come out really washed out looking? I had to go into PS and manually adjust the RGB levels and contrast and chroma, you name it to get it looking as close to the original cover as possible. (By eye as I haven't calibrated my monitor or anything) can someone take a look at the cover I did to see if it's alright? Also any tips on scanning covers and level settings to correct using PS to get the best image? Also I scanned at 300 dpi but that may be a little large.

As far as the database. I just kind if made up my own system for describing the contents. Is that OK?

Yup, everybody indexes things differently. Some begin with a listing of primary systems coverage, with semi-detailed overviews of what each section entitles. Others start with a list of what's inside. I do it the way it's originally presented in the magazine contents page - with only the text in the magazine there.

The result is that my indexings are somewhat sparse, and dry, but you get what's originally there, if not the details of what each section means.

Unfortunately I can't help you on the issue of cover images as I don't have enough magazines to scan cover images... Well, theoretically, I do have enough, but most if not all of them already have the cover image linked.

The cover looks fine to me. The one thing I would suggest is that if your scanning software has the option, turn on the Descreen function to eliminate the moiré pattern that occurs when scanning magazines. It's only really noticeable at full size, but if your scanner can eliminate it, it makes the scan that much better. :)
