Game Informer magazine downsizes

I was in a local EB Games this evening, perusing all the stuff in there, and decided to pick up an issue of Game Informer. They had the August and September issues, so I grabbed both. Then I realized that something was off. The September issue was smaller. Not in thickness, but in dimensions. The August issue is the usual Game Informer size, but the September issue is now the size of a regular magazine.

Yeah, everybody is downsizing these days. My local newspaper got smaller as well. I hope it's not a sign of Game Informer going digital-only as well due to losing money on the print edition. They are the only mainstream video game magazine left in the U.S. that has print.

With rumors of the next Nintendo system (code name: Nintendo NX) going digital only (no disc drive), I wouldn't be surprised that Microsoft and Sony will follow suit with their next consoles.

Well, the page count is still the same. I think they went down to a standard size again because that is what all the printing houses are set up to print on. So having an oversized magazine surely costs more to print. I would rather see this than a reduction in pages to save money.
