Sean697 work in progress?

I am going totally just on memory here, but if I recall correctly, EGM #30 has a preview of Ultima VI The False Prophet for SNES, not Ultima IV, as listed in the database entry.

Really can't wait to see if I'm wrong or right on that!

You may..... or may not be right. A little under 100 pages to go out of 246. Making good progress.

Got the EGM 100 issues 3 poster spread with all the covers. After I finish what I'm working on, I'll add this to the EGM 100 scan. I won an aution for 30.00!!!! Damn price gauging bastards. I did manage to wiggle it down to free shipping though. I just couldnt pass it up as you dont see these posters so much. I came close to getting a bagged issue 100 this year but lost out and regreted it. So I just sucked it up and paid the price.

Hey Sean I'm still trying to find time to send you my copy of EGM 100 if you still want it. I can understand if you thought I blew you off (I didn't), but I've just been so bloody swamped with work it's difficult to get to my PO before it closes.

Bummer on the cost of the poster. Wish I still had one to give you.

Man, scanning these EGM posters is some bullshit. They will just not line up to my satisfaction. I think the scanner bed is slightly warping them when I scan them on the edges making them not line up no matter what I do. I even played around with phot merge but was not entirely happy with the results. I'm going to try scanning them again and see if I can get them flatter. I'm considering scanning them completely flat at the fold, lining them up, and then scanning the fold flat and cut that strip and paste it onto the image. Anyway that EGM 100 poster requires me to merge 12 separate pages into one image.

That sounds like hell.  Probably the easiest way would be to cut it into 12 separate pages, but I assume you want to keep the poster intact.   I think perfection is going to have to take a holiday on this particular job.

Got tired of messing with that poster. Later on I'm going to just cut it up and try it again later. Anyway.

Up next:

Excited to get to a later issue because I was getting tired of the same ads over and over. This issue has some nice content. I tried something different debinding. I used the heat gun to pull off spine from the pages as completely as I could, then used cotton balls  with the heat gun to wipe off as much glue as possible from the spine before pulling the pages apart. I got most of the exess glue off before even pulling apart the pages. Which prevented glue creep onto some of the page. The cotton balls really wick up the hot glue but you have to do it while hot. I dont know if all the extra work is worth it because it didnt make that huge a difference. But the pages did come off remarkably glue free. They possible could have not had alot of glue to begin with. Anyway I'll be gettting a great scan out of this issue.

I'm working REALLY hard to get this out in the next day or two. This has been the longest scan I've done I think. And I ran into some pages that had lots of those white dots and scuffs that took forever to remove. Like taking nearly an hour on some of the pages. Ridiculous I know right? But I'm on the homestretch. Also there were quite a few two page joins I did this issue.

But over all this issue is going to be fantastic. The games and ads in this issue are some classics and the content is top notch.

One of my favorites is an interview with FF3(6) game creator from square talking about where would FF go going forward. And he says they are open to other systems but there is a high probability the next games would be on the Not yet released N64. Lol.

Anyone have any advice on scanning metallic paint? I got this page of Soul Blade trading cards that have a shiny metallic coating on the Soul Blade logo. It scans as black. When it's actually a mirror like finish.

So I went ahead and took a photo with my iPhone. Cropped out the shiny parted and pasted it 8 times into the scan. Doing touch up work but I think it came out OK. The thing is it will look different depending on how the light shines on it. But what I did captures the intent.

When I'm done I post a before and after.

So this is the before and after. I'm pretty happy with it. Obviously you wont get the shiny part uniform. But it does show the mirror like shiny films light properties. It's the best I could do for now anyway. Damn neon colors and metallic paints making me work.

Yep, it's a loose supplement.

This is what I was talking about.

Digging through my scan pile, turns out I do have this supplement. Must have picked it up in an auction and forgot about it. So I'll scan it next. Can someone verify what EGM issue it came with? Was it 32?
