Kamaitachi no Yoru: Tokubetsu Hen (かまいたちの夜 特別篇) is a re-release of Chun Soft's second sound novel, Kamaitachi no Yoru, originally published for the Super Famicom in 1994.  It was released for the PlayStation on December 3, 1998.

The "Sound Novel Evolution" series of sound novels from developer Chun Soft.  These games consisted entirely of reading a story depicted through text with mostly static images in the backgrounds, and occasionally the reader would be given the chance to make an interactive selection which could potentially cause a branch in the storyline.  Though the term "sound novel" was originally trademarked by Chun Soft, the genre soon exploded in popularity in Japan, eventually becoming more widely known as "visual novels."
