Machi: Unmei no Kousaten (Japan) (March 1999)

Machi: Unmei no Kousaten (街 〜運命の交差点〜) is the 3rd game in Chun Soft's "Sound Novel Evolution" series.  It was originally released as Machi for the Sega Saturn in January 1998.  The PlayStation version was released on January 29, 1999.

 The "Sound Novel Evolution" series of sound novels from developer Chun Soft.  These games consisted entirely of reading a story depicted through text with mostly static images in the backgrounds, and occasionally the reader would be given the chance to make an interactive selection which could potentially cause a branch in the storyline.  Though the term "sound novel" was originally trademarked by Chun Soft, the genre soon exploded in popularity in Japan, eventually becoming more widely known as "visual novels."
