Pen Pen Tri-icelon (Japan)
Here is a game with an unfortunate name. Developed by Team Land Ho! and published by General Entertainment Co. for the Dreamcast on November 27, 1998, the Japanese title is ペンペントライアイスロン. This is a play on words - the game is a triathlon on ice, so it's pronounced as I've chosen to write it - "Tri-icelon."
Unfortunately, this game got a western release published by Infogrames, and the game was given the odd capitalization of Pen Pen TRiIcelon. Look closely. The letters are the same as what I wrote. But thanks to computer fonts, the uppercase "I" and lowercase "l" are identical, making the title in English appear to be "TRILCELON." So for clarity's sake, I'm keeping the "i" lowercase and inserting a hyphen to avoid confusion that a double i in "Triicelon" would cause.
Why didn't Infogrames give me a call and ask how they should spell it before publishing this?
