Here it is y'all. Unless someone can provide evidence to the contrary, this is the only Japanese magazine EVER with Lara Croft on the cover. Just don't expect any Tomb Raider game coverage anywhere in the issue LOL.

  4. 244 pages to be exact. That's actually a pretty average size for Dengeki PlayStation. I've scanned several mags over 300 pages. The longest being a 338 page issue of Famitsu. Dunno if I've got any mags sitting in my closet waiting to be scanned that are bigger than that, but I sure hope not.

  5. Thanks for the hard work you put into these scans. I know you mentioned it before, but since these Japanese mags are big in size, and must take weeks of your time to finish. I just looked through your latest, Dengeki PlayStation Vol.109 and it was 200 pages. I would be surprised if most of the Japanese magazines on the Internet Archive came from you (aside from the illegal scans that some post anyway). Good work as always. There are a few interviews I need to go back and goggle translate for later. It's so nice to have access to this content. And I can confirm -- no coverage of ANY Tomb Raider game in the whole issue. Weird.

  6. There's also a "Star Wars Galaxy Magazine" from the same publisher that ran for 13 issues and covers everything from the movies to the comics to the novels, not just collectibles. As with all things Star Wars, they've already been scanned (there are a lot more Star Wars fans out there than game magazine aficionados), but many times those scans were done years and years ago, so it's always possible to create newer, better scans. My copies of these Star Wars Galaxy Collectors, for example, were scanned over 10 years ago, and are only around 50MB each, so I assume these new scans are an improvement. And one day in the future when everyone has unlimited and secure storage in the cloud, we'll all demand 600ppi scans of everything, so every mag in our database will be ripe for a rescan. And then one day it'll probably be 1200 ppi. After that, who knows, some sort of 3D hologram $%&#. A scanner's work is never done!

  7. Yes, only 8 total. Apart from few donations, everything else is from my own pocket.... I buy them, scan them and publish them. The sad part is that I can never recover my money because I need to unbind them to do a decent scan... But again, I mainly do that for my own collection and at the same time let other people enjoy it. But yeah, it's becoming quite costly these days... shipping cost are killing us.... . I also have @matrixman who help me alleviate some of the cost by having some magazines sent to his place, make a bundle and then have them sent to me after. I was also able to talk to some eBay seller and let them know what we are doing, sometimes they offer better prices. For example, thanks to @Yellowstone1872! I definitely spent too much money in this, but what the heck... I like it.

  8. Always a pleasure! @NintendoPower91 sent me issue 1, 5 and 6. I felt bad that the set was incomplete, so I purchased issue 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8. You will see them appearing slowly! Danny

  9. Has it already been another three days? Must be time for more PLAY Magazine... er, "play Magazine?" Play Magazine? However we need to spell it. Thanks, I got a small collection to go through now. I got all the Game Informers downloaded, (don't worry, I'm doing my part... by seeding it for several days before I move it over) but I'll store those for now. PLAY and PSExtreme go in the "look through when time" pile. Glad to see both on the site. Good work.

  10. You didn't know about the new "3D hologram $%&#" coming out, @dablais? Its total fire. Alex Jones confirmed it. It might take 10 years, but I can't wait. I don't mind 50MB files unless I run across a better-quality version, then I need to have that one. As long as we all agree to STOP at 4800 ppi then I'm fine with that being the ceiling.

I know some people probably prefer the chaotic "graphic design by Jackson Pollock" style of Japanese video game magazines, but I'm glad this mag has a more Western aesthetic, particularly as it primarily covers Western games. It's just a handsome mag, in my opinion - one that lays its info out in a clear, easy to read format suitable for adults, as opposed to the "HEY! LOOK OVER HERE!!" style of the video game mags.
