Same in Northern Virginia.....its getting ridiculous now! Pretty soon I am going to start labeling the price of everything in life by its equivilant in Gasoline. Hey how much does GTA4 cost? Its roughly 12 gallons of gasoline Hey how much do you pay for high speed internet Oh I pay about 9 gallons of gasoline per month Hey how much does Suzy on the corner charge for that thing she does with her tongue? Oh its only about 7 gallons of gasoline, 10 if you want her to do it clockwise!

Question For Phillyman / Prima Strategy Guides
Phillyman replied to nintendan's topic in Magazine Talk
I would say the best thing to do is get an account over at Underground-Gamer and post all of them in a huge torrent. Retromags is more or less about things we have scanned ourselves, not magazines we have found or acquired. Appreciate the thought though -
Ok here is the setup, You are stuck on an island......no one will find you for 5 years. You are all alone. You can bring 3 gaming consoles.....with a maximum of 10 games for each system. Which systems do you bring and what are your 10 games for each system? Handheld systems are allowed, but only 10 games per system....and only 3 systems! Here are mine..... Super Nintendo Super Mario All Stars w/ SMW Star Fox Stunt Race FX F-Zero Legend of Zelda LTTP Super Metroid Donkey Kong Country Super Mario Kart Contra III Mega Man X Playstation Twisted Metal WarHawk Castlevania SOTN Final Fantasy 7 Crash Bandicoot Tekken 3 Resident Evil 2 Silent Hill Mortal Kombat Trillogy Tomb Raider Xbox 360 Halo 3 Burnout Paradise BioShock GTA4 Devil May Cry 4 Call of Duty 4 Gears of War Guitar Hero 3 The Orange Box Forza 2

I just got the same question from MBJ I have had limited time on Mario Kart, mainly because the Gf and her brother like to play against me .....So in my spare time I have been working on getting all gold on the 100CC tracks.....just did it last night.....now going to work on all gold on 50CC .....and then 150CC......but I am still using Automatic.....so I probably need to learn to do Manual before going against you guys I have only done 1 online match so far.....something about going into the hospital and shooting the nurses in GTA4 has me hooked

I have avoided about 3 blue shells....I cant figure out how though.....the first one was on Waluigi's dirt bike course......the blue shell missed me as I was doing one of the big ramp jumps.....now it could have been 1 of two things.... 1) The boost before the ramp helped me boost past the blue shell coming down on me 2) The blue shell does not explode until it touches the ground....which if I just jumped the ramp....the ground would be a long ways beneath me....hence I basically jumped over the explosion. They are a bitch though....I have been hit with 2 in one lap and thats no fun......Oh and the Blue/Red combo is a bitch also....getting hit with a blue and then a red right after

Egm Issue 1 Indicates It Is Actually Issue 2?
Phillyman replied to rbudrick's topic in Magazine Talk
Yes it was the 1989 Buyers gude, but we consider that issue 0 Go to Magweasel.com and look up EGM , you will see that this is issue 1 and the buyers guide is 0 -
Its back down to $113.... Something about that bidder left a bad feeling with me. He has 0 feedback and has had the account for almost 2 years now. But now he is going crazy bidding on my auction?? I just felt like he might be a fake bidder, plus he is in Puerto Rico and in my auction I stated I only shipped within the 48 Cont States

I am keeping my eye out for it, There was a buy it now one for $89 but thats BS......Its only worth $60 in my mind. After I get the first issue I am going to sell the entire set of 7 in 1 auction on ebay

Yea but I only bought this issue for $32......the only reason its up to $200 is because of how much exposure it got because of Kotaku. 5000+ people saw that and all it takes is 2 people that really want it .....to get it up to that price I should be able to buy lots of magazines if that 0 feedbacker pays

Egm Issue #3 Query, Trying To Find Two Reviews From It
Phillyman replied to Kung Fu Man's topic in Magazine Talk
Honestly not really too particular, I think as long as you scan at the best resolution you can get with your scanner.....and don't stitch the pages together....that no one will say anything I scan at 300DPI....and the original resolution......then I run the pages through the free program IRfanview and have them set to a width of 1400 and a DPI of 250 -
Depends, I have no personal attachment to my Next Generation magazines....so to speed up the scanning process I debind them. But if you can scan them without taking them apart....more power to you

Can anyone recommend a good Photoshop book to read? I wanna get my edumacation on!

((((((((((*)))))))))) Thats the ripple.....lets start at where it began! Once I aquired the first issue of EGM ....I got together with Meppi and asked if he would be able to edit it up. After he agreed ...I contacted Gnomes Lair and Racketboy for backup on the news story....Both of their sites pull more traffic then mine (check Alexa.com). So after we got the issue all fixed up....Gnome and Racketboy both posted up the news story and we tried for a Digg effect. The story between both of there sites got me about a 150 user increase over the past 2 days....which brought me up to about 500 unique visitors per day. The Digg unfortunately did not make as big of a splash as we had hoped. A few days went by and I started to think that most people thought nothing special of this release. Then yesterday at roughly 2pm I noticed a huge surge of traffic.....was the Digg taking off? Nope.....apparently a website named kotaku.com had posted up the story! That story brought us 7200 people to this site yesterday! Just so you know I only get about 5500 people visiting this site in 30 days! That story brought a huge amount of people to the Retromags name.....and that brings me to the ripple effect.....Today we have had 1700 visitors to Retromags.....which is fantastic! I do expect the number to drop over the next few days....but this is to be expected. Think for a second that if 7200 people visited Retromags yesterday.....How many people went to Gnomes site first....but didn't come here? Or how many people just saw the Retromags name on the front of Kotaku's website? Now how many of those people run there own websites, or visit other gaming forums? This is where it gets interesting! Here is a list of other websites now referring people to Retromags..... http://boards.1up.com/zd/board/message http://www.canardplus.com http://www.luelinks.net/linkme.php http://www.capcom.com/bumper.php http://www.forum.consolevania.com/index.php http://retro-treasures.blogspot.com Now in addition to being seen on the front of Kotaku......Many sites are carbon copying the story! Go to Google and search "Egm issue 1" and look at the results! http://retro-treasures.blogspot.com/2008/0...-issue-one.html http://game.blogdig.net/archives/articles/...Magazine__.html http://blog.capcom.com/archives/1157 http://www.addict3d.org/news/350524/Download+EGM+ http://videogametop10.com/node/12259 http://www.arnsteinlarsen.no/?p=8543 Not done yet....Now search for "EGM first issue" http://www.curtsbasement.com/?p=276 http://lb1848.stumbleupon.com/tag/egm/ Now search "EGM issue 001" http://www.nintendoraw.com/?p=1084 http://tibia4you.org/2008/04/24/k-download...-free-magazine/ I am sure there are many more....let me know if you stumble across any of them.....Racketboy informed me of this one.... http://www.dsfanboy.com/2008/04/22/electro...enty-years-ago/ Oh and I almost forgot, Obviously we reached probably 10,000-15,000 people.....Many of them Downloaded that first Issue of EGM. Now we can expect that most of those people will share that magazine with friends...or put it in there Kazaa or DC++ folder and share it. Hopefully all of that brings us more traffic also.....and hopefully some more energetic scanners and editors Sit back and enjoy the ripple EDIT: Others found..... http://games.meiobit.com/primeira-edi-ccedil-atilde-o-da-egm http://www.merlininkazani.com/news_screen.asp?NID=15332 http://www.gamepad.it/pdf-first-issue-of-e...ing-monthly-egm http://russrenshaw.newsvine.com/_news/2008...-mint-condition http://www.mmoclerks.com/2008/04/24/downlo...-free-magazine/ http://feedmoo.com/2008/04/24/download-egm...-free-magazine/ http://phantomleap.com/?p=108 http://videogametop10.com/node/12259 http://www.techtakeaway.com/page.php?id=277198 http://www.dpfiles.com/showthread.php?t=155639 http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=107818 http://www.xbox360gamenews.com/content/sit...zine--36238.php

As far as my raw releases are concerned, That is the entire point behind the "R" they are raw right off the scanner....not all clean and pretty. Now anyone who complains about them is more then welcome to clean them up.....but seeing as no one is stepping forward to do so....then I will not listen to complaints about them. The entire reason behind releasing the magazines out like that was to grab the attention of people to this site. Now I have scanned 100 magazines and at roughly 120 pages per magazine, thats 12,000 pages to edit. Do you honestly think that I can ..... Promote this site Help new members get started Index the Contents on the Wiki Make note of all pages without numbers Debind the Issues Feed them through my ADF Figure out what pages misfed and rescan them Figure out what pages went through crooked and rescan them Go through and edit 100+ pages Compile the pages into a .CBZ file Compile the pages into a .PDF file Upload the releases to Mininova Upload the releases to Under-Ground Gamer Upload the releases to Demonoid Rinse and Repeat... No thats why you see me asking for help at times, So yes I am scanning 150 magazines....then I am going to take a break from scanning and go back and rescan the pages that cant be fixed up.....then I will release out a FINAL magazine and throw out the loose pages. Even if only 10% of each magazine needs to be rescanned....thats 90% I did not have to scan manually! Look Fusoya....no matter what you think of me....I am not out to ban you or use you. I welcome everyones help....but on the joined pages....why is it so hard to give the scans to Meppi or myself before the joining takes place? I dont care if you want to release a joined copy.....but give the users of this site the ability to choose what version they want.

Egm Issue #3 Query, Trying To Find Two Reviews From It
Phillyman replied to Kung Fu Man's topic in Magazine Talk
If you scan the entire magazine and send it to me..... you will become a Lifetime Premium Member! Just do it at the original resolution and a DPI of 300, with all the special effects turned off (sharpness, dust removal, auto contrast) -
Advance Wars: Days Of Ruin $17 Be Quick!
Phillyman replied to meppi's topic in Current Generation Video Gaming!
Ok I am in for one......what did I just order? -
Fusoya, I tried letting others hash this out with you before putting in my word..... I see no reason that after a magazine has been scanned, that you or that scanner cant pass the files off to myself or Meppi for a regular release. If you want to join the pages on your scans.....then that is your right....but dont impose such measures on new members trying to help out. It would be like me taking Mek1's scans and creating a optimized PDF file and releasing it.....no one wants that....and no one really likes the joined pages. Also what was the purpose of not including the Thank You page at the end of Mek1's release? I am trying to get along with you Fusoya....but your really starting to irritate myself and other members on this board!
