I want to hear your opinions on how we can improve the Retromags website, What would make this website more interesting or keep you coming back. Please list your suggestions and why you think they would be a benefit to the members of this site. Something like..... Monthly Recap Emails A monthly email sent out to all members of Retromags, that lists all the new releases for that month. This would let people know what they may have missed and would serve as a reminder to people that may have forgotten they have an account on this site. I will point out that I do expect people to suggest having the releases available for download off this site, but due to the size of each magazine and the amount of traffic, i would say after the first 500 downloads this site would be shut down for going over its monthly bandwidth. Torrents still offer us the best way to provide releases to the public.

I have been seeding that release since that torrent was created, 13 Gigs uploaded so far. Keep connected and I am sure you will start pulling it sooner or later

I tried to find this for you Potato, but came up empty handed, Try other scanning sites that do box art and manuals. The other site I started (Videogame-Database.com) will deal in box art and cartridge scans,

Yea I made a post last week about getting all the group icons fixed on the forums, The emoticons are mismatched, If you see the word instead of the smiley , it means its a smiley that shows up on the lighter skin but doesnt have a corresponding smiley on the dark skin (or vice versa) Gonna try to fix that today

I approved all your posts around 4pm or so, You shouldnt have any still showing up as waiting. All the javascript code on this forum seems to be in working order on my end, I just tried every field on my profile and it works. Can someone else please try to do the things Robert is having trouble with and let me know the outcome? The only thing I can think of is maybe your browser is set to only run Javascript off sites you have set as trusted. The problem with the first letter of each word being capitalized, well thats weird and I will ask over at the ips boards about why its doing that What is the Premium Member Blue status bar not working?

I will see if reinstalling it works on Sunday when I get home, I am in Philly right now visiting the parents thats why I am sort of slow to respond right now. If reinstalling it doesnt work then I will try to find a replacement game

I figured it out, there was 1 setting that was off and it was forcing the members group to constantly be checked even after the 3 posts Sorry :blushing:

I thought it was not possible, but you took my highscore in tiretoss :cat: I really thought I had that one locked down.....Congrats!

Yes it seems as though the antispam mod has a slight flaw The way I thought It would work Every new member that registers has there first 3 posts to this forum moderated, Once a moderator or admin approves those 3 posts, all other posts show up as normal. If any of those first 3 posts a member makes have more then 2 hyperlinks in them, the member is moved into a restricted usergroup and the moderators are alerted to a possible spam attack on the forum The way it actually works Works pretty much the way as described above, but moderates EVERYONE in the MEMBERS group until 3 of there posts have been approved by a moderator or admin. So even if a member has 20 posts already at the time of me installing that modification, it still requires there next 3 posts to be moderated

I need someone to help create about 19 images or so for this forum, They are the small images that appear under your avatar in the topics. We need the following image groups created.... Scanner Premium Scanner Scanning God! Editor Premium Editor Editing God! Premium Member Members+ Member Distributor PDF Converter Moderator Admin Owner Validating Banned Spammer! Wiki SysOp Girlfriend So they dont have to be anything fancy, Just something that will match the forums 2 main skins. This is an example of the current one for my group

I own 4 out of the 7 Fun club issues, and am constantly looking for the first 3 (along with the powerflash issues) Retromags would expect no one to pass our scans off as there own, so even if a magazines has been scanned, we will scan it ourselves unless the original scanner donates there scans to be used by us.
-
As many of you may have noticed the magazine section can only be viewed by the following groups Scanners Editors Premium Scanners Premium Editors Scanning God Editing God Distributors Members+ Premium Members Everyone knows that Premium Members are the ones who donate a few dollars to help us acquire more magazines, But many people may not know how the Members+ group works. Basically it is any member on this forum that reaches 100 posts. Some members may think this is not an achievable feat without spamming, But that is why we have a Emulation News Section. The Emulation News section allows any member to post emulation related news and increase there post count easily. We would like to stick to having each member not submit more then 3 news items per day but we are lenient on this rule. Just follow Retrogoth's examples that are already in place, We will prune the Emulation Section each January 1st, but this gives you a chance to catch up to the 100 post mark fairly quickly Any Questions Feel free to ask! PS - Also Anyone who makes it to 500 posts becomes a Premium Member

I got Guitar Hero II 80's Rock the other day, and I must say that I am very disappointed with this game, I loved the second installment of Guitar Hero, but this seems like a rushed game. I dont feel anything of value was added to this game. Yeah its great that they have 80's songs, but it almost feels like they just took the previous game and ripped out the songs and replaced them with new ones, and thew in a few 80's graphics and pushed it out and hoped we would all eat it up. I really hope that this is not the future for Guitar Hero, The first 2 games were great and to have this big of a let down on the third release is disappointing. We all know that the Guitar Hero series will pretty much never die now, because there are tons of old songs and new ones comming out each month. Anyone else Play this game and have comments?

So after years and years since this game has come out , I have finally picked up a copy of Final Fantasy for the PSP, I wasnt into RPG games that much as a kid, So about the closest I got to one was LoZ for the NES. Out of 13 Final Fantasy titles, the only one I have played thru to the end was FF7. I logged about 90+ hours into FF7 when it first came out, and other then getting knights of the round and beating the 2 gem bosses, I pretty much crushed Sephiroth at the end. I bought FF8 and FFX, but none of those 2 kept my interest, I also have FF12 and havent had time for it. So now I am going back to the beginning and playing the first one. I think I tried playing it on the DS a few months ago and when Garland kicked my ass I kinda backed away from it for a while, But I decided to pick up a copy the other day at EB Games, and when I got home I made sure to level up a few times before going into battle with him again, I must say I am impressed with the graphic overhaul they did on this game, I can only hope that one day my FF7 game will be re-released on PSP or the PS3, I can honesty say that I would buy a PS3 just to play FF7 with updated graphics, just as I am going to be buying a Xbox 360 when Halo 3 comes out So anyone else play thru Final Fantasy 1? -Phillyman

Request For Name Removal On Nintendo Power Releases!
Phillyman replied to Phillyman's topic in Magazine Talk
What I would like to do is try this in 2 parts 1) Re-Release all Nintendo Power Torrents in groups of 50 issues, with the following done...... Verifying completeness....Meaning all posters, pages, covers, and supplements have been accounted for. Joining the posters, Also verifying all pages are in the correct order, and doing a standard naming convention with the pages within each .cbr so that each page number matches the actual page number of the magazine. Finally inserting the supplements at the end of each ..cbr and the Retromags Thank You Page. 2) Taking our time, and hopefully when we have a few more people helping out.....Going thru page by page and rotating, croping and rescanning any pages/issues that dont seem to be perfect. Alot of the earlier issues were scanned by just placing the magazine on a Flatbed scanner, We can go back and get better scans if we debind those issues and run them thru again. This part of the project will probably work out to be maybe 1-2 issues per month being perfected for a Final release. Of course all this is just talk until we get a few people on board that can help us out. I cant even find the 2-3 people I need for doing New releases. I mean if I cant find a couple people who can lend 30 minutes to this project a week distributing the new scans......How can I expect to find 10 editors that can work on getting the Nintendo Power Releases into the final stages. Right now I am going to be honest and say that I really have too much on my plate to make this site flow as smoothly as possible, From debinding a magazine to releasing that magazine to you guys takes about 4 hours of my time for each release. I am trying to break down the tasks into smaller chunks so that I dont burn myself out. But for those who dont realize how much work it is for 1 person to do everything.....I will break it down as if I started at 6:30 Debinding a 100 Page Magazine = 10 minutes (6:40) Running 1/2 of a magazine thru an ADF = 20 minutes (7:00) Running 1/2 of a magazine thru an ADF = 20 minutes (7:20) Flip the magazine over for even pages Running 1/2 of a magazine thru an ADF = 20 minutes (7:40) Running 1/2 of a magazine thru an ADF = 20 minutes (8:00) Resizing and Collating the even and odd pages = 7 minutes (8:07) Verify output against physical copy = 10 minutes (8:17) Transfering Pages to FTP Server = 5 minutes (8:22) Post in WIP thread = 3 minutes (8:25) Go thru scans and create an .nfo file = 15 minutes (8:40) Create a rar file out of scans and rename to cbr = 5 minutes (8:45) Create folder for torrent and place .nfo and .cbr inside = 5 minutes (8:50) Create Torrent = 3 minutes (8:53) Upload Torrent to MN = 5 minutes (8:58) Create Post in Magazine Section about Release = 5 minutes (9:03) Change Front Page to reflect new release = 5 minutes (9:08) So yeah it can get pretty long when you have to do everything yourself, You may say that I am not doing anything while its scanning, but I am actually debinding more magazines so that I can continue to run them thru as fast as possible. Everyone knows people have days where they come home from work and dont want to do crap......well I sort of fell into that these past 2 weeks. I am going to continue to scan magazines and then on the weekends I will place out 2 releases. But it boils down to if you like this project.....Lend a hand.....All I am asking for is a few people to download the scans from the FTP, Rar them up into a CBR, Create an NFO and Make a torrent and upload it all. If you guys want more releases, by all means help us place them out there! We have a backlog of 9 magazines right now that are awaiting someone to release them. -Phillyman -
With the final oversight of Nintendo Power being worked on, we would like to formally thank each and every person who has contributed to the Retromags project. We will be inserting into each .cbr for the Nintendo Power re-releases a Retromags Thank you page that will appear as the last page of each magazine. All members who have donated funds, donated magazines or donated time will be acknowledged on this page. Of course I do not wish to place anyones name into this thank you page who does not want there contribution publicized. So this post is going to be 2 things. 1) To notify all members that we will be including a Thank You page with there name listed (on the re-release of Nintendo Power) 2) To allow members to ask for there name not to be included. Even if your no longer a member of the Retromags team, or your membership has expired, you will still be noted on this page. -Phillyman

Since there is no end in sight for the decline of people trying to spam this site, There are new antispam functions in place. Anyone in the "MEMBERS" usergroup who has less then 3 posts on this forum will be moderated until there fourth post is made. So any users that have registered and wish to start posting, we encourage you to do so, but be aware that those posts will not show up immediately to other members. After your third post has been "Approved" by one of the moderators/admins on this site....your following posts will show up as normal. Thanks for your understanding -Phillyman

I have placed a new field on the forum that shows all the members who have logged in within the past 24 hours, Since the attack system is set up to only allow you to attack members who have been on in the past 90 days......feel free to use this feature to attack members
