Final Fantasy 7 On Psn.......in Japan. Aagghh
meppi replied to painkiller74's topic in Current Generation Video Gaming!
How could I forget Disgaea 3! I loved all the Nippon Ichi games on PS2. Oh and Sega's Valkyrie Chronicles! -
Hmm, I'm gonna have to look into those now. Ghost in the Shell Innocence certainly is a very different film than the first one, which actually disappointed me because I wasn't expecting it to be so different. I'll have to watch it again soon to give it a decent chance, but I'll wait for the bluray re-release. Haven't bought Solid State Society yet as I believe it takes place after both SAC series, and it'll take a bit before I finish those.

Nothing too special really. Never thought the system was that rare to begin with. I've had several occasions where I could have bought one but didn't need it since I have 2 GGs. Off course now that they are both in bad shape I could have used one. Coca Cola kid is actually a nice little action game. Nothing spectacular, but quite good.

Eeeeew, FPS games are certainly not for me. Not in the way they have been coming out for the last 5 years though. I love Portal and Half-Life and Halo 1 was great, 2 was good as well. But I don't have much love for other FPS games besides the original Perfect Dark and GoldenEye 007. Checked out those shooters you mentioned, but they don't seem to be anything special. Doesn't mean they look bad, just that they don't grab me in any way. And compared to the 360 games like Raiden Fighters Collection, Otomedius, Dodonpachi Daioujou Black Label and especially Ketsui those games aren't even worth a look. The biggest problem is that those 360 games are region protected so that would mean buying a Japanese 360, and with the questionable reliability of the hardware I just don't want to risk it. Especially since MS Europe refuses to repair systems from other regions. I normally don't mind buying Japanese systems as I have just about everything from an AV Famicom to a Japanese PS2, but this time, I'm not seeing the benefit, especially with the limited games I'm interested in. 1942 Joint Strike looks quite nice on PSN though, as does Everyday Shooter. Flow and Flower might be something that I'm interested in. GTI Club is something I want to get back into ever since I played it in the arcade many years ago. Outrun is a must buy for me even though I own both the XBOX version as well as the PS2 and PSP versions also. Super Puzzle Fighter II is another must have here. Maybe Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Possibly Worms if it turns out to be a good version. Pixeljunk Eden looks intriguing even though I have no idea what the point of the game is and how it plays. -

The one game that's calling me to buy a PS3 is WipEout HD. How can I refuse this: Besides that there aren't many games that I'd would be interested in. Virtua Fighter 5, Sega Rally, Motorstorm, King Of Fighters 12, Street Fighter 4, Ridge Racer 7. Perhaps a couple more like RE5 and MGS4. If it had games like the Cave shooters and Raiden Fighters that are out on the 360 as well as things like PacMan CE and Galaga Legions and similar titles then it would make the decision to get one much easier. Perhaps if Studio Liverpool finally releases a full on retail WipEout game, maybe then I wouldn't be able to hold back anymore. -
That's what I was afraid of and why I waited before I found it on sale. Only paid €12 for it instead of 28. I just finished watching Nausicaa of the Valey of the Wind, and I must say that I'm usually not too crazy about anime. Probably because I've seen some lesser productions back in the day and always shied away from viewing more. But lately I've been lowering my guard on just about every genre of movie out there, from drama's to romantic comedies. Yes even those "chick flicks" thanks to the original Korean version of My Sassy Girl. Absolutely love that movie! So besides Ghost in the Shell which I adore, and some old classics like Akira and Patlabor, I haven't seen too much anime. I did buy both complete sets of Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex, which I'm planning to watch when I get the new TV and installation, so I'm certainly looking forward to that. And I did enjoy Paprika quite a bit, as you might have seen from another pic (bought the bluray version after already owning the DVD), so I will probably check out Perfect Blue and Tokyo Godfathers as well in the near future as well as Spirited Away which looks incredible! Back to Nausicaa. Simply put, this was what I expect from anime movies, or should I say always wanted them to be. A beautiful movie in every aspect. Highly recommended. I can see what people were talking about when saying the creators of Panzer Dragoon were inspired by Nausicaa, but then again many go as far as to say the game copied the movie, which is just as ridiculous as it's ignorant. Just found out this was made in 1984 which makes it even more incredible.

Thought it might be a good idea to get an official post for these up as well as it might get us to look into certain movies that we might have missed. I'll start off and I think I went a bit overboard this week.... And there's still stuff on the way.

Actually I was the one who took them down for various reasons and I stand by that decision still. It might seem like a good idea but there are several factors that complicate the inclusion of manuals to the site as well. Not withstanding the 1999 rule and the problems that would bring with undated manuals and games that were released in various territories over the span of several months or even years. There is also the problem with storage for all these manuals. We only have a certain amount of files that can be put up on our servers and with the steadily expanding magazine releases alone we shouldn't run into any trouble any time soon, but adding thousands upon thousands of possible manual scans as well, it wouldn't take too long until we got into trouble there. Another reason would be focus. When we focus on being the best site on the net for video game magazines it's easier to attain that goal and keep us focussed on that one point. But when starting to add lots of other things as well, it won't be too long before the site gets bloated and overly complex.

I wonder what Ed Boon's thoughts on the MK subject are and what he's planning to do.

Yeah, I just ordered a couple more bluray movies online as well. I wanted to wait until I got to see how much they cost at the shop before ordering movies online that more often than not don't have subtitles. I always watch English movies without subs, but it's not convenient when having company over that isn't as good as understanding English... Still, the bluray movies in the local shop, who's known for having very low prices on DVDs and such cost quite a bit more than the ones online. €50 for the Matrix collection compared to €32 online for instance, so I went ahead and ordered several titles for €12 a piece when the same movies would have cost me €20-28 otherwise. The camera's are both only 0.3 megapixels, but they still are twice the resolution on the DS screen itself. And they aren't meant to replace a real camera after all. Just to have fun with and play games with. They aren't state of the art, but they get the job done and it's a lot easier now to take a couple of pics of the new stuff I pick up when I go shopping.

Well not everyone is willing to pay €35000 for a TV.

Yeah it basically takes snapshots while you're playing and plays those in succession when the game is over, like you see at the end of the video. The image quality is quite good I must say, in the right conditions at least. Don't take pictures from too far away, which is only logical seeing the resolution and make sure there's enough light as it doesn't have a flash. Last thing is to make sure you keep perfectly still while taking a shot as the shutter time seems to be a bit long, so images tend to get blurry rather quickly when moving around. Here's a couple of examples of the quality, which when viewed on a computer screen are quite nice I think: My first bluray movies, even though I don't have a bluray player yet. A random shot on the highway driving back from the shop. for a moving shot this looks excellent I think. And my cat, wondering what I'm doing lying on the ground and pointing a red light at him.

They recorded Satoru Iwata playing the new Wario Ware DSi game and put it online. The game uses the camera as you can se here but at the end it'll show you that it didn't just use your silhouette to play the game but actually recorded some images of you playing, which it replays at the end of the stages.

This commercial for Wario Ware Snapped on DSiWare is brought to you by Satoru Iwata.

I just played SF4 on a 103" plasma TV at the Mediamarkt in town. The controller just lay at the foot of the TV on which the game was playing. Didn't see anyone around so I thought what the heck and decided to play a couple of rounds without asking. My best friend looked a bit nervous when I did it though. First time I've actually played on a PS3 and it immediately reminded me how utter useless the standard Playstation controller still is for these types of games. Absolutely horrible to try and pull of a super move. Even the standard quarter circle moves were not coming out the way they should. Nice game though. Feels much simpler than SF4, but there's nothing wrong with that. I wish it was demoing WipEout though, although that might have made it hard to resist getting one next month when I pick up my new tv.

Indeed it is. Reminds me of how many times people have said that we wouldn't see games that required the expansion pack as it is too hard to emulate. Glad Nintendo pulled it of in a great way. Played it for a little bit this morning before heading off on a shopping spree and the emulation is top notch once again, looking even better than the actual N64 version. By this I mean less fog a less blur and stuff like that, just like the other N64 games on VC.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask finally available on European Virtual Console (1000 points) Opening : One of the most atmospheric and darkly themed Zelda games, as well as one of the finest games even created imo, is finally available on the European Virtual Console, which means a US release can't be far of now either.

Don't think too much about it Thor, for some strange reason E-Day just doesn't like to look at pictures of half naked girls.....
-
I should stay out of this discussion or I might end up hurting someone's feelings in the end....
-
No not really. I get a bit of a headache when I play it for over an hour without taking a break though, but nowadays I get that from playing on the tv as well most of the time. Sure you weren't very young when you experienced that. I'm just saying because there were some warnings about kids up till the age of 12 or something better not using the system because it could cause permanent eye damage to them.

I had that cabinet at home when it first came out. Played it all the time.

I have no idea. I love mine so much that I got a spare new one many years ago. Galactic Pinball alone is worth the purchase.

Hi there, always nice to see people willing to join in. You got me curious though as to which era you are referring. My favourite CVG era as without a doubt the Paul Davies one, but I might be slightly biased since the 32-bit era overall is very dear to me. Don't worry about timetables or anything like that. Just know that many people will be happy whenever the magazines are released.
