Some more Dreamcast love: Shikigami no Shiro 2 and Radirgy

What I should have known already for a long time: the internet is full of morons and assholes. From games, to forums to ebay..... :( I've recently started using an import forum where members can sell and buy stuff between each other and give feedback and just use the couple of ebay stores I know and love and the experience has been so much better.

I would love to scan in those CLub Nintendo issues, but I don't have the money for them right now sadly enough.

Wiki search feature is your friend. Looks Nintendo Power 79 and the Official Sega Saturn Magazine issue 9 and 10 have info on it.

They don't hold a candle to Belgium. -
If you're able to play Japanese PSone games you might be interested in these on my old site: http://users.pandora.be/twin-dreams/Sony_Systems.html Chippoke Ralph Harmful Park Ore no Ryouri Raiden DX and both Umihara Kawase Shun games are essential as PSone retro games! Umihara is also on the Super Famicom and handles a tiny bit better as well on there. The new PSP version is full of game breaking bugs, so should be avoided at all cost. It a port of the PSone game anyway, more or less. Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY BTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :Yahooo:

Indeed, what a huge contribution! A very big heartfelt welcome and thanks from me as well. And reading your reply and seeing how much you love classic gaming and magazines as well makes it al the more sweet. Plus being a Saturn fan makes you an even cooler person in my book.

Oh wow, major flashback. I bought those ones for several years as well, including the WCW magazine even though I had never seen WCW on TV and they had stopped broadcasting WWF over here as well for several years already. I was so hungry for anything pro-wrestling related at the time I didn't even mind that I couldn't follow the real deal. I remember the magazines being very expensive over here, up to €15 a piece depending on where you bought them. Needless to say, I love the internet as well as satellite tv.

Wasn't expecting a Wii exclusive HOTD game. Now do a Virtua Cop compilation SEGA! Love the Grindhouse style even though it's not perfectly done.

That's not going to be a very popular reply.

Current Generation Purchases!

Or you can order a Japanese copy from play-asia as well and enjoy the many bonus puzzles. Tried out my first 20x20 one in Picross NP Vol.8 and it's great. Very tough, but that's the way I like them now that I've played so many puzzles. One can take up to almost half an hour to solve when you're playing in free mode. The Japanese copy does have all the menus and stuff in Japanese, so it might be a bit hard to figure out if you can't read the language. But seeing as you have a US copy as well, it shouldn't be to hard once you know how the menus work. Heard something about the US version also having specific download puzzles. I'm starting to get tempted about picking such a copy up as well. If you find the time, could you tell me a bit about the US download packs. The more detail, the easier my decision will be. Oh and I'm not sure if I mentioned it yet, but I prefer playing with the D-pad and buttons. It's much easier to count the blocks as well as to fill them in on the larger puzzles. You might find free mode intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of the regular mode where they tell you when you make an error, you'll love moving on to free mode. -

Woohoo, my Japanese Picross DS copy just arrived! Already downloaded a bunch of Japanese only puzzles. I can't believe how many puzzle packs are actually out for the Japanese version. Here in Europe we only got 2 puzzle packs containing 10 puzzles each, and these are so easy. Not only are there 50 puzzles from Mario no Picross on the GameBoy online, but also 50 for Mario no Super Picross on Super Famicom. And on top of those you have the download only puzzles from the Super Famicom Picross NP Vol.1 through 8, which come to another 400 puzzles!!!!! I love this game. To bad you can only save 100 classic puzzles at one time on time on the DS cart... But you get to delete individual puzzles from the list and download more packs, so you're able to get rid of the simple 5x5 10x10 and 15x15 puzzles and fill the card up with 100 20x20 puzzles or higher. On top of that you can create and save another 100 self made puzzles. so if you write down your favourite Picross NP puzzles and enter them manually, you can have 200 of them on one cart on top of the 400 or so puzzles that are already in there. On to another years journey trying to beat every single puzzle on the cart. -
No problem. I actually just got out of bed. But Philly's in the US so most of the time one of us is online. Renaming the zip file to cbz is so that programs such as CDisplay, ComicRack, Comicbooklover and FFView automatically open the magazines since they recognize them as comics instead of just a zip file. Don't know exactly how that started out, probably just how the first program for this kind of thing was written.

Absolutely! For reference you can always use scanning FAQ: http://www.retromags.com/forums/Scanning-E...uide-t2727.html The magazines don't have to be in PDF format at all. We even prefer them not to be. Just zip up the folder where the JPGs reside in and rename zip to cbz and you're done. Just number the pages accordingly and possibly give them a name such as GameFan 045 - 001.jpg or something. As for naming the CBZ's themselves, I always use something in the line of this: Official Sega Saturn Magazine 024 - october 1997 (UK) Super Play 001 - november 1992 (UK) Club Nintendo Vol.5 Issue 2 - 1993 (UK) NeoGeo Freak 1996 Vol.7 - july (JAPAN) For a completely finished issue it is recommended to resize the pages to a width of 1280 or 1440. I have just started using 1440 myself since it's more friendly to widescreen displays. If you're keeping the images unedited, be sure to let a bit of extra room for a possible future edit, say leaving them at 1600 pixels wide. Don't worry about redoing magazines, take your time. I've been redoing issues for the 3-4 time now due to various quality issues that no one else seems to mind. If you have any further questions, all you gotta do is ask. Myself or Phillyman will most likely be able to help out.

Official Sega Saturn Magazine 022 - august 1997 (UK) Wiki page here. Download page here. Rapidshare link As you may have noticed this issue is the first one I've done in a width of 1440 pixels instead of 1280. All this to ensure the quality is the best it can be. I've also updated 5 other magazines which are now in the same quality. To make things clear, I did not upscale those 5 magazines, they were resized from the original PSD files so there is no loss in quality whatsoever. There is actually an increase. The mags are: NeoGeo Freak 1996 Vol.7 - july (JAPAN) NeoGeo Freak Tokyo Game Show 2005 Special (JAPAN) Official Sega Saturn Magazine 019 - may 1997 (UK) Official Sega Saturn Magazine 020 - june 1997 (UK) Official Sega Saturn Magazine 021 - july 1997 (UK)

I would love to see those as well, but it doesn't look like anyone has the mags.

I'm trying to squeeze in an hour or so a day of WipEout XL on the Saturn before I go to work. My vacation was over so quickly that I didn't make the most of it.... Already filled in my next vacation slips. One for 11 days in november and another for 3 full weeks around Christmas/New Year. Oh and I can't go to sleep without doing at least one puzzle of Picross DS on Free Mode and 20x20. Only one more puzzle to go on level 8 and then I think I only have level 9 and 10 to go along with a secret level if I'm not mistaken. By then I should have my Japanese copy and can start all over again.

Not at all. I remember vividly how many months I wasted playing MK2 versus my best friend at the time. The Kitana/Milina/Scorpion/Sub Zero matches were legendary. We played the game so much that in the end we simply were a bit too fast in battling each other with special moves that the SNES had quite a bit of trouble following it all. Talk about dedication. We never really did get into MK3 though, the new "dial a combo" system killed it for us.

There are plenty of topics for favourite game series/systems so I'm gonna answer it with the games I've played the most. Not necessarily in a certain order, just the ones that come to mind. Sega Rally: The original on Sega Saturn. Got my Saturn a year or so after I got my Playstation on launch day and I got so tired of the brown polly boom at the time. So I jumped into the Saturn world and got 2 games with my system: Sega Rally and Fighters Megamix. My first experience was a real let down. I absolutely sucked at both games. Couldn't keep my car on the road for 5 seconds without crashing into something. After a good night sleep, and some buyers regret as well as I started to think I might have made a huge mistake buying the system, I gave it another go, and for some reason the game just clicked with me as if someone told me: hey stupid, THIS is the way to play the game. I've loved it ever since and have kept on playing it for over 10 years. WaveRace 64: Another of my all-time favourite racing games. Not too many circuits but as far as gameplay goes, simply perfection. Elevator Action: First played it in the café I grew up in when it came out on the arcade cabinet. Then after about 10 years, I found out there was a sequel for it on Japanese Saturn. So that was the game I got a 4-in-1 cart for and started me on my import obsession. Funny fact is that I didn't just buy the game for Elevator Action Returns, but actually because the shopkeeper told me you could unlock the original arcade game. Which I did when I finally got the game and I have been playing it ever since. I actually find it much better than EAR.... Mario Kart DS: A very recent game, but you need to understand that since the game came out me and my best friend used to play every single day at work during our breaks. (about an hour every day, sometimes longer) So for 2 and a half years we played it almost every single day, and if it hadn't been for the fact that we both moved to different jobs, we would still be doing this right now. Funny fact: we only played battle mode, and then also only Block Fort, nothing else. Since we can't do this anymore, we now have moved on to online Mario Kart Wii while using Skype to discuss tactics and plan who we want to take revenge at. That and a whole lot of yelling and cursing at those non-wheel motorbike racers who suck too much to play the game as real men. GoldenEye 007: For years we used to play the multiplayer mode against each other, such a great game. Still my favourite FPS. Half-Life is a close nr.2 thanks to online deathmatch. Not even thinking about the hours, days and months that have been consumed on the single player game... NiGHTS: What do I need to say. One of the best games ever made. And on top of that an incredible high-score driven mentality that keeps me coming back year after year after year. Picross: This has become a very (un)healthy obsession in the last year. How long it lasts depends on how good the handmade "random" puzzles turn out to be, or when Nintendo finally releases Picross 2. I wanted to stop because I really need to get to bed, but I just remembered one more which Is simply can't skip in this list: Crazy Taxi: Love the game to bits. The minute I played my first round I was hooked and it's without a doubt my most played DreamCast game, which is a pretty impressive feat. in and of itself. In my best days I was pulling scores of around $64,000 if my memory doesn't play tricks on me. One of these runs last for close to an hour and a half btw, but like I said, that was during my best years, which have sadly past it seems. Only thing I play is Original City by Arcade rules with either Gina or Guss. No messing around with the options or anything. Still remember when the game was only a week or 2 out in Japan, and the guys over at the import shop were bragging that their friends were pulling off scores of more then $100.000 already. After all these years, I'm still convinced that the only way they pulled that of at the time was by changing the game options, lowering the traffic, upping the time limit, etc. After my years of dedication I still haven' t cracked $70,000 and they did that in a little over a week. Sure. What I would love to do is start up a high-score thread over here where we all play by the same rules and try to beat each others score, but I'm afraid no one would be interested again. :( There are sure to be more game, but I've been typing for over half an hour and I really should get some sleep.

Well there's been a lot of confusion about this point, but when digging a bit deeper, Nintendo never promised 1:1 controls from the beginning. Sure we were all hoping for them when they unveiled the Wii, but at the time it wasn't very realistic with the limitations of the product. The one who boosted about 1:1 was actually Ubisoft with Red Steel. But like so many things, after time stories get a but twisted and added on and everyone started saying Nintendo did promise true 1:1.

So nice to see a couple of people mention Dragon Quest games. I never was able to play a DQ game until 7 came out on the US PSone. After that I was sold. The best part is that in a month I will be able to finally play IV on the DS when it comes out over here. And another one I never played but am so looking forward to is Chrono Trigger which I'll be able to finally play on the DS as well in Januari or so.
