I should normally have that one. I'll scan it tomorrow and upload it to you. Which page are you missing?

Taking a short brake from scanning the official Sega Saturn magazine to scan this one first: Mean Machines - The Essential Sega Guide - 1994 (UK)

It was a bit pricey in the last few seconds, but I just have to get them. It'll be over 200 pounds including shipping costs, but when you look at it that's just 4-5 pounds per magazine, and knowing that I've seen individual magazines go for up to 12 pounds without shipping (which would be another 3-5 pounds for me), it's quite a bargain. Now I'm off to the local supermarket to buy a months worth of ramen, since that'll be the only thing I'll be eating for many, many weeks.

The thing is, in principle I like anime. Very much so. But it's been many years since I actually watched any. The one movie that made me fall in love with it was Ghost in the shell. Still think of it as a masterpiece. After that I started looking for similar experiences and found that besides Patlabor 1 and 2 and Akira it was pretty hard to come across anime over here. This was 10 years or so ago though. Recently I've been thinking of getting back into it and found myself wanting to find some great movies or series. But just as I had trouble finding the good asian movies when I first started looking for them, I now have the problem that I simply don't know what exactly to look for. Seeing that 90% is probably kid stuff, or things that don't interest me doesn't help much either. I have bought Paprika a couple of weeks back as I've heard great things about it, but I haven't watched it yet. Seen the trailer of it and it seems right up my alley. I also watched the very first episode of Ghost in the shell Stand Alone Complex and I'm thinking of buying both DVD box sets when I can find them at a decent price. I have several movies on my to buy list, but I'm not sure if they are actually good enough to buy as I can't compare impressions with people who like the same stuff as me, since I don't yet know what I'm after. I like a nice sci-fi story, mature content or at least a mature way of looking at the content matter. And I do like asian extreme movies if you can call them that, from horror to simply weird shocking stuff which catches you completely off guard. I might give the following a try: Sky Blue Millennium Actress Perfect Blue Paranoia Agent If you are into regular asian cinema, a couple of my favorites are Old Boy, A Tale of two sisters, Visitor Q, the original Ju-On movie (V-Cinema version), Ichi The Killer, Ring 1 and Hanabi. Loved that last one so much that I instantly bought every movie by Takeshi Kitano that I could find. I have a soft spot for Takashi Miike as well, but that's probably a bit of an acquired taste.

Same here, although my timeline as well as my passion for magazines seems to end with the death of the Dreamcast. I haven't read any magazines (besides Retrogamer, but that doesn't count since it's a retro mag in and of itself) since the last Dreamcast magazines where I actually felt connected to the whole gaming scene. Perhaps it's just getting older or something, but I just don't feel like the gaming industry has the soul it once had, and that includes gaming mags sadly.

Not at all. That's actually a very good idea. The only problem is that I have no Idea how we could set something up that lets us instantly change the status of certain issues from (looking for, aquired, scanning, editing, raw released, full released) and possibly some other things. The optimal setting would be something like a switchboard where you have a table like we have now on the wiki, but instead of having to go into the code and change it manually, we could simply click on one of the magazines and change it's status by selecting from a drop down window or something. Like I said, I have no idea how to start up something like that.

A big thanks from me as well, Monkeybot! There are some great mags in there, and I'm especially looking forward to the one and only GameGo! issue! I've heard such great things about it and it has quite a story behind it, so I can't wait to finally be able to read that one!

Yeah baby yeah! 18 issues of the Official Sega Magazine, forerunner to the Official Sega Saturn Magazine from the UK. I'm sure at least 1 new member will be happy about this.
-
Well I think those magazines are the only valuables he owns, seeing as he's asking at least 590 pounds for them. That should be almost $1200.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/COMPLETE-SET-OF-TOTA...1QQcmdZViewItem On second thought, it really isn't that hard. All I can say is wow, just WOW. :on2long:

Not sure if this will be necessary, but I only have about 28 hours left to act. I already sent a mail to the seller asking if he will ship to Belgium, but instead of waiting for a possible negative answer I'd rather ask here as well. It concerns a parcel of 17 magazines which would have to be bought by a UK member, shipped to his home and then be shipped to me (in Belgium). The thing is that several sellers refuse to ship overseas for some reason, so getting certain magazines can be quite a hassle. Everything will off course be payed for by me. (item purchased, shipping to your home, as well as the additional shipping to me) Even if no one answers in time for the end of the auction, it could still come in very handy with future auctions where the same circumstances come into play. So if there's anyone out there willing to help, let me know. I wouldn't even be surprised if you would receive a premium membership, although I haven't talked about this with Phillyman. Any help would be very much appreciated. *quick update* He's willing to ship directly to me, so this crisis is averted. But still, if there are members out there who would be willing to help out in the future, it would be convenient to know in advance.

I have a bit of good and a bit of bad news. That's actually one of the 3 issues of the official Sega Magazines that I own right now. It actually just arrived last week. I'm looking for to complete the full set as it's a great magazine, just like most of the classic Emap videogame mags. The bad news is that the Mortal Kombat II deathchart wasn't included. I'll keep a look out if I come across the magazine again to see if it comes with the poster.

That makes a lot of sense, as I don't drink beer either. But then again I don't drink any alcohol. :fear:
-
Easy. Coffee, since I don't drink that stuff anyway. Give up chocolate? Since I'm Belgian that would be like asking an American to give up hamburgers. So in other words: over my dead body.

Done and done.

Updated the EGMs and I've created tables for many other magazines such as: Dreamcast Magazine (UK) EGM² (USA) Mega Play (USA) Official Dreamcast Magazine (USA) Official Dreamcast Magazine (UK) Official Sega Magazine (UK) Super Play (UK) EGM (USA) update the newer years On the Acquired Issues page as well as for the regular magazine index wiki. Haven't had time to color all the issues I have though, but I'll get to that in the next couple of days.

Not sure how reliable those Treamcasts are, but they seem to be pretty decent for what you can expect from a pirated system. Like those old Nes and famicom knock offs, they do the job, but aren't in the same league quality wise as the originals. Found an article on one of the several different Treamcast systems out there here. Pretty funny that 9/99 coincidence.
-
Wonderful move Philly, that way more people can easily enjoy these classic magazines. :zorro:
-
I have also thought about a way of including who has which issues, but that makes the whole thing so complicated that I don't know how to implement it. Then again, when someone takes it upon themselves to acquire a full set of a certain magazine, it would be nice to let others know this as well... Like how I'm only missing 3 or so issues of the unofficial DreamCast magazine from the UK. Or how I'm still looking for the couple of missing Mean Machines right now among others.
-
Most of you will know by now bout the Acquired Issues section of the Wiki, which is over here: http://retromags.com/wiki/index.php?title=Acquired_Issues This page can be very helpful for someone wanting to know which magazines still to look for. But the thing is that it needs to be kept up to date to be useful, so if there are any issues of any magazines that someone on here has, but they aren't colored green on the wiki page, please post this here and Thor or I will update asap. This goes for magazines that aren't yet on the list as well, like the new Atari Age Collection, which I will be adding shortly.

I'm thinking of getting a new laptop between now and summer since my old done is about 5 years old now. The thing is, I'm used to XP since I got my first system. My best friend bought a laptop only a month ago, which has Vista installed. After only 2 weeks it didn't want to boot anymore, so he brought it over to me. The only thing I could do was reformat it and reinstall all the programs and everything. Now, while doing this I came to one conclusion: I absolutely hate Vista. It just feels like a bloated, inefficient and even whiny OS. Not even gonna touch the MS spycrap. "You can't do this, you can't do that, are you sure you want to copy this file there....are you really sure? Well, sorry but do you have permission? You do? Well, I can't let you do that as you have to be logged in as the administrator of the system to do that....." To which my reply was f*&$"^^^$ you $^¨ùµ^$-à ! I just formatted and re-installed you, who the $^é!ç do you think I am???? :on2long: So to make a long story short. I refuse to get a system with Vista as it's OS. I could always go and reinstall XP, but since my XP copy that came with my current laptop is bound to this system, it can't be used on another pc. So I am about 99% sure that my next laptop will be a Macbook Pro, as I wanted to get a Mac in the first place 5 years ago, but they ended up being a bit too expensive for me then. I've watched several OSX tutorials and demonstrations and also made sure to check that certain programs I'm using right now are compatible with OSX. And I must say I'm linking what I'm seeing. So are there any people out there that could help me out a bit so that I don't make the wrong decision. Things I should watch out for. Does it really pay off to go for a Macbook Pro instead of a regular one, tips to help ease any adaption pains, etc. All is welcome. Someone at work gave me a CD bootable version of Linux today to try out, since he thinks that's the best alternative. But I just tried it out, and besides a couple of nice options and ideas I'm not impressed, at all.

Holy crap! Thanks for reminding me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta look for a torr..... I mean an American satellite channel that shows it.

What Can I Post Here To Be Able To Look At Old Nintendo Power Mags?
meppi replied to DarknessDeku's topic in Magazine Talk
Yeah well, the thing is..... I'm trying to upload as much as I can to my rapidshare account so that everyone is able to grab all the magazines, even if that means they have to endure the download limit there. But..... I simply don't have the bandwidth needed to upload all those mags to my account right away. :unhappy: And since those old Nintendo Powers are in the process of being replaced by better copies, I'm simply going to wait until those copies pop up and only upload them. I'm simply working my way down the list and I'm not at the Nintendo Fun Club issues. But you're going to have to be a bit patient since I'm almost at my monthly upload limit already...
