  1. Official Sega Saturn Magazine 007 - may 1996 (UK) Download here and extract the rar file to get to the CBR.
  2. Wow some real classics in there! That issue 1 op NP looks in great condition compared to the covers I've seen before.
  3. I was going to make a comment about the pink gun given away with lethal enforcers on the Snes, but this one tops it.
  4. Well, I've got some great news today. A package has just arrived. Last week I got a message from Richard Leadbetter (former editor of Maximum as well as Official Sega Saturn Magazine, and also known from CVG and Mean Machines among others), asking me if I wanted a couple of his personal issues of Maximum. Without any doubt I said yes off course. Well today they have arrived, issue 1,3 and 6 in absolute pristine condition, like they just came from the shop. So the only ones I'm missing right now are 4,5 and 7. (yes there were 7 instead of 6) I'll start working on these issues as soon as possible, but not before I say a big thanks to Rich for this wonderful gift. In this day and age it all seems to be about money, money, money. So I'm glad there are still people out there who stand above that. Thanks again Rich, you're a true gentleman! :zorro:
  5. Allright, have a look over at http://www.retromags.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page And let me know what you think. The CVG section is only half done and uses the template of the Sega Saturn Magazine page for the moment. Seeing that there are more than 230 magazines released of CVG, and that I've been working on the wikki all day long, I thought it might be best to take a break.
  6. I really hope it stays 2D, although the 3D teaser does look incredibly stylized. The one 3D fighter that I absolutely adore is Virtua Fighter. There are a couple other nice ones, but they don't do it for me most of the time. I also really hope Street Fighter 4 hits the Wii since it's the only new system I own, but I do realize that this is a very unlikely proposition. :unhappy:
  7. I've put up the magazines I scanned myself as well. I'm also wondering about making a page, either per set of magazines or for every magazine separately. With at least a rescaled front cover and the release date of the magazine. Perhaps in the same way Magweasel did those pages. That way it's easy to see which ones are already released and which ones are still missing, while at the same time having a nice overview of the issues. *edit* Oops, just noticed on the main page that there already is such a page, at least for the NP set. :blushing: But these seem to be separate pages. Perhaps we could integrate them into one big Retromags wiki page? Or has this also already been done and I missed that as well?
  8. It's been a pretty quite month as far as Pal gaming purchases are concerned. I did get my monthly import fix though. NeoGeo AES: Strikers 1945 Plus DreamCast: Under Defeat Crazy Taxi Super Famicom: Starfox Super Aleste Supapoon Super E.D.F. MegaDrive: Space Battleship Gomora Playstation 2: Monsterworld Collection PSone: Acid Calcolo! Color NeoGeo Pocket: Puzzle Tsunagete Pon! Sega Saturn: WipeOut Also got SSX Blur and I'm picking up Zelda PH this week and Metroid Prime 3 next week. Not game related but I've also picked up about 40 Asian DVD movies in the last couple of weeks, since I'm going to be home for a couple of weeks next month. Mostly horror and Yakuza movies. Many of which can be found here with the favorite label attached to the title: http://www.mandiapple.com/snowblood/index2.htm
  9. Didn't think it would be this quick, but I should have the premier issue of Maximum by next week or so. Although there is a bit of bad news as well. As you guys might have noticed it's been a bit quiet with the scans the last few weeks. Well, the problem is that I'm having to undergo minor surgery pretty soon, so I've been occupied with other things. Not sure how when the next magazine will be finished, and it all depends on how everything turns out. So hopefully things will get back to normal soon. When I get the Maximum issue it'll take priority over my other scans, so it will be the first one I'll release.
  10. These just arrived. Although the seller wrapped the magazines around the Nes games and posted them in something that looked like a brown paper bag. Who in their right mind does something like this? :pinch:
  11. Ah, no. Just the ones you listed. (#19, 23, 26, 29, 34, 36, and 37) I started out with only 34,36 and 37 and bought a couple more off ebay, so I did those other 4 after that. Then I got 2 big ebay auctions which filled out the set, besides #8 and 9. So I started scanning them from the first issue onwards, but before I released the first one, I got a new scanner, so I redid the first one and the rest were done chronologically. So you didn't actually miss out on any other issues before. That were simply the only ones I had at the time. :-)
  12. That's indeed pure bullshit. Money, money, money, that's always what it's about. The greedy bastards never have enough. First hiding behind the MP3 downloads and everything related with stories of how much it harms the music industry, but when you look at cases like this it shows a bit too clearly that it's got very little to do with their concern for the artists, and instead everything to do with lining their own pockets. Something entirely unrelated, but a point which annoys me a great deal. DVDs... I got a pretty big DVD collection 5-600 or so which gets bigger every week and especially after discovering Asian movies this summer. Something that gets under my skin is how some production companies put unskippable minute long spots before the startup menu of a DVD, warning how harmful DVD copies are and how we all are in the same league as rapists and murderers if we copy a DVD. Well now, I bought every single DVD I own (besides the original tv releases of the horror movies Ju-on The Curse 1 and 2 (not Ju-on the grudge) which never came out on DVD or tape outside of japan, and if they will, I'll buy them instantly) So why do I have to sit through this crap every fracking time I want to watch a movie, when in fact someone who rents DVDs and copies them has the option to remove all that crap and make himself a copy of a DVD as how it should be sold in the stores. It just doesn't make any sense...
  13. Yes they have. But I'm redoing all my original scans (SSM, CVG and the one DreamCast magazine). Since I got my new scanner I immediately noticed a big quality difference between my new ones and my old ones, so I decided it would be best to start from scratch. That way we'll all get much better scans in the end and the quality will be much more consistent once I get the last 2 magazines of the series in my possession and finish off the whole set. So don't worry, I'm just gonna go through them all in the correct order (as much as possible) and I'll rescan those ones when it's their turn.
  14. A couple more English language Club Nintendo magazines.
  15. Now this is something I like! Looks like he plays great as well in the video.
  16. Ah yes, if I remember correctly you need to put on the heavy boots and destroy a rock or something in front of the opening. Then a stream of bubbles will appear from the ground, and if you put another water bomb in the stream, it will float up to the blocked entrance and blow up the rock that's blocking it. My biggest problem with Zelda TP is to get as far as to actually start playing it again. It's very strange, but when I have actually started, I can easily play it for 5-6 hours straight, but for some reason I'm always a bit hesitant to plug the game in. I think this may have to do with the fact that I simply don't want to finish the game since I know it will be such a long wait for the next one... But seeing that Phantom Hourglass is coming out very soon makes me want to dive back into Hyrule this weekend and finally find the final showdown. Can't wait for Mario Galaxy as well. There are several new gameplay videos on the japanese homepage which apparently look absolutely unbelievable, but I don't want to see any more of the game before I can play it myself. There's something special about going into a certain area you know nothing about and being completely blown away, instead of knowing what to expect because you've seen too much of the game already 6 months before you had bought it. For anyone who wants to see the new videos, they are right here: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/rmgj/prologue/index03.html http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/rmgj/action/index.html Perhaps you can click on some of the links to get more, but I don't want to test it out myself. I'm so glad to see that the team that made Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is doing this game and still has so much inspiration in them to deliver something that seems to be totally mindblowing. 99% sure this will be my game of the year.
  17. Ah, I'm getting Phantom Hourglass in 2 weeks when it's released over here. The only Zelda games I haven't finished so far are the 2 GBC ones from Capcom and The Minish Cap on GBA. Oh and I'm at the final "dungeon" in Twilight Princess.
  18. I'd certainly get the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 game that should be online right now for the Wii in the USA. Great game, Extremely difficult, but great. If you want to get a Virtual Boy, certainly check out Mario Tennis, Galactic Pinball (play as Samus in one of the table's bonus modes). And I would do myself a big favor if I were you and simply brand the CDi games as unofficial crap in my mind. They were developed by Philips themselves and do nothing more than degrade the franchises that they are supposed to be part of. If they had been actual Nintendo games and still be this way, I would include them, but like they are now I'd simply remove them from my memory and pretend they never existed. If however you do want to torture yourself with the CDi stuff, include Hotel Mario. :fear:
  19. Just send me a pm with your email address and I'll send you one. I still have a couple left.
  20. Not nessesaraly. I use a Canon LiDe 70 flatbed scanner for all my magazines (http://www.fotokonijnenberg.be/product_details.php?id_product=22201) and the scans are great. Much better than with my previous one. One little trick that you can use when scanning a magazine without debinding, like I do, is to use another magazine as counter weight. What I mean is when you start at the beginning of the magazine, the cover won't be a problem, and neither will all the uneven pages up till the middle of the magazine. The even pages can give you quite a bit of trouble though, since those are only a couple of pages thick, while the rest of the magazine is 90 pages or so thick when scanning. So the side of the spine will get all blurry or much to white looking since it doesn't get the same amount of pressure as the non binded side. Simple sollution. Take a magazine of nearly the same thickness and when scanning a page on the thin side of the magazine, simply place the 2nd magazine on top of it before you close the lid and put a bit of pressure on it to get a picture perfect scan. Works like a charm. Just check my Sega Saturn Magazines. I never debind these and they still look almost the same even after scanning them.
  21. Or Dagobert Duck in Dutch. Anyway, I wouldn't mind seeing scans of classic French game magazines. Not sure what Philly has to say about that. But seeing that millions of people speak french, it certainly isn't a bad idea. If you're looking for other retro magazines from France, you can download a whole bunch over here: http://www.abandonware-magazines.org/ They don't scan other languages though. Oh and by the way, your English is just fine.
  22. Well, there are a couple of new series that I started watching since the last time I posted in here. Namely Battlestar Galactica: up to season 3 Dexter: At the end of season 1 House: I have no idea where this series is right now. Still WWE wrestling, but getting very bored with it. Only love Undertaker and Kain matches, Cena is allright most of the time as well. The game is great too. But I miss the good old days of the nWo in WCW. :unhappy: As for the rest, I'm waiting for the newyear so the next seasons of Lost, 24 and Battlestar Galactica will start.
  23. Ah, that's what all the fuss was about. Noticed this on the wrestling trackers I visit, since we don't get wrestling over here. They still recommend staying with 1.6.1 or 1.7.2, and certainly not using 1.7.3 or 1.7.4. 1.7.5 seems to have been approved though, but this version is still very buggy.
  24. Official Sega Saturn Magazine 005 - mar 1996 (UK) Download here and extract the rar file to get to the CBR. Or grab it from Underground Gamer.
