  1. I'd like to see an "magazines for editing" thread or something in the work in progress forum. Philly could make the first post and update it every time someone posts in the thread stating that they are working on editing one or more magazines, and also when they have finished editing them. So the first post should be a simple list of every magazine that has been scanned and is waiting for someone to edit. Once someone says they will start editing a magazine, Philly could add their name in red or blue or something next to that particular magazine in the first post. Once a magazine is completed and the poster mentions that it has been uploaded to the correct FTP connection, it can be removed from the list. Also when someone besides Philly scans a magazine and posts it on the FTP to be edited, they should mention it there, so it can be added to the list in the first post. This way we can easily keep up with which magazines are still waiting for an editor and what magazines already have someone working on them. That way we will never get 2 people working on the same edit.
  2. Most of my systems are modded, but probably not in the manner most people think off when talking about mods. Basically every system that doesn't put out an RGB signal by itself is modded to do so. From my Super Famicom, Japanese N64, PC-Engine, etc. The only system that I actually had a mod chip put in was the PSone. Since I wanted to play not only Japanese exclusives titles like Ore No Ryouri or Umihara Kawase Shun, but also all the US released RPGs. So instead of having to get 3 systems, one for each region, I had my Pal one modded. But these days I'd rather just by an untouched Japanese system along with a Pal unit instead of having a chip installed. Did this with the PS2 and if there are enough Wii games that stay exclusive to Japan in the future I'll simply get an import system. I even go as far as to buy Japanese retro systems and games that I already own as European versions. As you might have heard, the Pal system screwed us over pretty badly in the past. So we got games with big black borders as well as games that ran at a 17% slower speed than the US or Japanese versions. It's a bit like rediscovering the classics. I couldn't believe the difference when I finally got to play the Japanese version of Waverace 64 a couple of months ago. Glad those days of bad PAL conversions are over for the most part.
  3. Shouldn't there be a law against that sort of thing? Not sure about this since English is obviously not my first language, but enticement to assault or however it's called over there sure can't be legal.
  4. Sure, no problem. Mine is 5550 3269 2600 4105 I believe that the Wii console friends code itself only is used for sending emails, which make the blue slotlight glow. And exchanging Mii's by setting them to mingle on the creation page. My Wifi connection is normally off though, but if it's true that the new update 3.0 fixes the heating problem in standby, I'll reactivate it.
  5. I hope he drives his car under an 18 wheeler the next time he pulls that stunt and speeds away. What a moron.
  6. Hmm, strange. I don't see the red X even with addblock turned off. I only see the text "Group Icon" What I have noticed though, is that someone else posts a smiley it simply shows up as a word instead of a graphic, even though I have smiley's enabled.
  7. Everything works on my end as well. Even the My Friends pop up, and there no people in my friends list. I'm using Firefox if that is any help...
  8. Wow, that's a great deal! I'm so looking forward to these! ^_^
  9. I'm embarrassed to say that the only Final Fantasy I've beaten is Mystic Quest on the Snes when it came out. Seeing as Europe never got many RPGs untill 7 hit, it's a bit understandable I guess. I got to the end of 7 but the very last part really pissed me off and thus I never finished it. Got 8, but hated it. Got 9, love it, but haven't found the time to get into it. 10 did nothing for me even though I got about 15 hours into it to see if it would get better. And I'm not even going to bother with 12. For some reason I'm a fan of the classical FF games. I've got 1-5 on the GBA and got quite far in 5. Love the job system. But then 3 on DS came out, so I started playing that. Which is great as well. But now that I just got Pok?mon in the mail, I'm afraid FF3 will be put on the back burner. I don't know why, but overall I prefer Dragon Quest over FF. My first one was DQ7 on the PSone which is one of my favorite RPGs. Many might say it has very "dated" graphics, but I think they are simply perfect the way they are. They are 3D, but actually look 2D. For me they just feel right. The game has the perfect setting and atmosphere. I've gotten 8 as well on the PS2, but again haven't gotten past the 12h point. So far I don't like it nearly as much as 7. So I'm absolutely delighted to see DQ 4,5 and 6 are being ported to the DS and that Enix is using the DQ 7 engine to do it. Now I'll just have to wait and see if it gets a European release. Otherwise I'll have to import from the US. And if they don't even get a US release, I'll just pick up the Japanese release.

    Lawl!

OMG! He sounds more nasal than Fran Drescher! But at least she has the excuse that she's hot. Well actually her voice is pretty cute as well.
  11. Well Pok?mon Pearl has just shipped for me as it's release date is tomorrow. It's been many years since I've last seriously played a Pok?mon game, so I'm ready to get addicted yet again. 12. Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Burning out is easy to do when you see all the work that you put into this and there seems to be so little response... I felt the same way for the last 2 weeks tbh. My 2 week vacation is almost over now, but I pretty much didn't do a damn thing besides playing games, working on my swing in Pangya Golf, catching up on my DVD backlog and basically enjoy doing nothing for a change. The whole thing with the ebay guy also didn't help much into getting back into the magazine thing. For me finishing up a 100 page magazine in great condition can take anywhere from 4-7 hours, but the problem is that doing this for 4 straight hours or more just sucks the fun out of it and makes it less likely that I'll continue the other day. When you're ready to get to work on the Nintendo Power thing, let me know and I'll start out with the first one and make every release as good as I possibly can. If that means having to fully edit brand new scans or redo old one, so be it. In the meanwhile I'll continue with getting the full set of Sega Saturn magazine out there and also edit things like EGM, GamePro, Sega Visions and possibly Diehard Gamefan if we start doing those. I'm gonna pass on things like XBox magazine and Playstation releases as I probably have way too much work already and those projects don't interest me personally. (It's much harder working on scans that don't have anything interesting in them when you're working on them) That's why I'm son interested in finally moving forward with the Saturn one.
  13. Looks like the paypal claim worked after all. Received my first batch of 12 Official Sega Saturn Magazines this morning. Couple that with the 15 that should be underway right now and the 3 that a friend of mine is going to ship me next month or so we're coming close to a complete collection. The only ones I'm missing are 8,9,24 and 35 so if any of you have these and would like to donate them. You're very welcome. I've been scanning the covers this afternoon, but some are in pretty bad shape, so they require major touchup work, especially the covers. But don't worry, the releases will start rolling out, hopefully starting again next week. To give you an idea of how much work goes into them, download this 2 page before/after CBR: http://download.yousendit.com/45742B6456BD5B60
  14. Trust me, you don't want to know...
  15. Just a quick question. Will this one be the final release? For which I mean, will these new releases have everything checked before release? (cropped, alignment, covers touched up if necessary, etc) Also I've noticed that Raw and complete releases are being put out pretty much indentically. Would you like to have a new page to include with the raw issues, so people know that those aren't final or something?
  16. This isn't anything new btw. They have been selling these for years in Japan. Haven't seen one in Europe though.
  17. Well, seems like I won't be getting those magazines after all. He doesn't reply to any of my messages, even though I paid for everything. I even sent a complaint to paypal, but he doesn't seem to be replying to that either. Thanks to Pulstar over at UG forwarding me the auction. Now lets hope this transaction goes as it's supposed to go.
  18. People are such assholes. They'll do anything for a quick buck. :chair:
  19. To be honest, I wouldn't nesseceraly go for the cheapest one. Just make sure you're getting a quality scanner so you won't regret it afterwards. I have a flatbed Canon scanner myself(http://hardware.kelkoo.nl/b/a/sbs/115401/14322309.html) and I'm very happy with it, but I'm also extremely happy with the software it came with. (Photostudio 5.5) There are probably better programs out there, but I'm getting very good results. Mine is a fully manual one, so it takes a lot more time to scan the pages one by one, but then again I don't debind my magazines, so it's not a problem for me.

    This Is Great

I'm probably not the only one who's wondering what "it" is. Oh and welcome btw.
  21. Well, competition is almost always healthy. So in the end the one who delivers the better quality will win out. I'm just glad people are fuelling each others desire to get these things released.

    I Got A Ps2!

Not sure why you picked up Jack 2 and are thinking about buying 3, but not getting the first. I loved the original one, but the second one was not at all as good, and the 3rd one turned me off completely. The thing is that the first one is a classic style 3D platformer, and one that's incredibly well done. While the second one pretty much dumped the pure platforming style and dove headfirst into the action/shooter genre. The 3rd one takes this even a step further, so it's not really my thing. I didn't like FFX as well, but considering how many people do, that might just be me. Loved FF7 at the time, but hated 8, so that might give you an idea. Breath Of Fire is great though, as well as Dark Cloud 1 and 2.(Especially nr.2) For a more traditional RPG, you can't go wrong with Dragon Quest 8 (Warrior) though. Although I preferred 7 on PSone. Not sure if you're into SRPGs, but if you are then be sure to pick up the Nippon Ichi games. Starting with Disgaea. Disgaea 2 off course, but also La Pucelle, Makai Kingdom and Phantom Brave. As for racers, my favourite one on PS2 is Sega Rally 1995, but that was only released in japan, so you might want to check out Outrun 2006. Shox is also a great but not so well known arcade racer. Oh and you just have to pick up ICO. It's simply one of the greatest experiences you'll find one the PS2. After that Shadow Of The Colossus, which is by the same team. I don't know if you're looking for classic arcade games, but there are a whole bunch on the system, ranging from the Taito Legends packs to Capcom Classics 1,2, Midway collections and a whole bunch of 2D shooters and fighters. Mashed Fully loaded is a great multiplayer game as well, a bit in the style as Off-Road, but with weapons. And don't forget Virtua Fighter 4 EVO and Maximo.
  23. I voted EGM since I loved the magazine back in the day. Started buying it in 1993 or so up until 3-4 years ago. Would love to see issues 1-50 especially, since I missed out on those the first time around. But as you can see from my own scans, I'm very interested in anything Sega or Nintendo actually, and looking for more Neo-Geo or PC-Engine stuff as well as Japanese Arcadia magazines which were awesome. Another series I've heard great things about is Diehard Gamefan. It seems to be a very colourful and well put together magazine. ^_^
