  1. Sweet to see another one of these being found. I'm not sure but I believe I might have saved a page or something from an old site on my old laptop or somewhere on a backup DVD with a bunch of covers from the magazine. If I'm able to find it, it should make it easier to see which one is which.
  2. Oh, you're gonna love Portal; believe me. Such a great game. Played through it on my Mac and it was one of the best games I played in the last I don't even know how many years. And I normally hate computer games. Not too fond of FPS games either as you already know. HalfLife 2 is also a true classic and probably the Episodes as well, but I haven't played those yet. Bought the Steam Pack as well as the Orange Box on PS3 so I will eventually though. I've just been to busy playing WipEout HD all weekend long. Probably have put in over 15 hours already. And today I found out that a new Lumines was released on PSN some time again, so I bought that as well along with the classic expansion pack. Played it for another 3 hours. Love it just as much as the PSP game, but thanks to being on the big screen I can play it for much longer before my eyes start to give out. Best part is that I have tomorrow off from work as well, so I can play till I go blind.
  3. Hmm, I've been wondering about this as well. So would everything that's been connected to the TV through HDMI cables send a HD sound signal to the surround receiver if you have an optic cable going from the tv (optical audio out) to the surround sounds system's (optical audio in)?
  4. Finally took the jump: Got quite a good dead as well, that's why I didn't hold off till the summer. €379 for a 80GIG version with an extra Dual Shock 3 and 2 game (Heavenly Sword+Ratchet & Clank) which I'm not too crazy about, but I will probably be able to trade them in for something better. The total value of this pack is normally €505. A regular 60GIG one with just one newer game (Motorstorm 2 or Killzone 2 for instance) but without a second controller which costs €60-70 is still €400. So it wasn't a bad deal in the end. Grabbed Burnout Paradise as well and I'm downloading WipEout HD as we speak. 69 minutes left, pffffff. It's connected to a regular Panasonic 32" CRT for the moment with an RGB lead, but in about 3 weeks time that will change with the arrival of a new 1080p 42" Panasonic plasma.
  5. No no, get it for Portal as well if you're into puzzle adventures games or if you have any sense of taste in good games.
  6. It did surprise me as well. Well anything is prone to getting broken, but still, I thought the PS3 had pretty reliable hardware. Looking at it from the viewpoint of someone who will be picking one up in the next few months sure isn't encouraging. When there was something wrong with me DS and Wii and all my Nintendo hardware before that, even after the warranty had clearly expired, Nintendo has always fixed or replaced them without having to pay a single cent. Sony does certainly suck, in more than one sense.
  7. Well, actually Sega had to publish and even develop most game by themselves, even 3rd party ones, since Nintendo had put a stipulation in their contracts with 3rd parties that any game put on the NES couldn't be released on a competing system. And even going as far as making sure 3rd parties didn't make anything for the Master System. That's why so many rights to games were sold to Sega and they made all kinds of arcade conversions of 3rd party games in the early years.
  8. A always sit buck-naked behind my computer, so I guess I still have the advantage.
  9. Ah, well that explains a lot really. I don't know why but GTA bores me to tears after only a couple hours, yet the DS one I have no problem with. Must be because it's more alike to 1 and 2, even though it incorporated quite a lot of content from the 3D games. Talking about Driver, I loved that game back in the day! Never got it myself but borrowed a mate's copy for several weeks. Really must grab myself a copy when I go hunting again on ebay.
  10. The problem with that would be that it would no doubt be used by individuals that obtained a copy of the DVD by less honest means as well.
  11. Well you have to admit that it's a bit fishy when a ROM site says that downloading roms is legal, but there isn't anything to back that up don't you think? Also I read somewhere, but this seems to be dependent on the country you're in that in the few instances where you're allowed to have a backup of a game, you must have made the backup yourself and the only for personal use. So even though you own the game, downloading the ROM would still be illegal. It's a technicality I know, but still. But that's why we try to refrain from talking about the whole subject, and also because we'd like to be playing games for a long time as well and not want to see companies go down because of piracy.
  12. Wowowow, wait a minute. I'm normally the very last person that will go out of his way to defend a GTA game, or buy it for that matter. Tried all the PS2 games (by actually buying them) and sold them all again since I get extremely bored of them after only an couple of hours. Guess the games aren't for me, all the technical glitches bother me and the gameplay is very rough at times, I'd even call it broken. BUT, after seeing several movies of the DS version and noticing how they went back to the 2D roots of the game, well more or less anyway. And also seeing how I got a great deal on it (€23 instead of €40), I decided to buy it and give it a chance. If I don't get along with it I can always give it to a buddy. Only got the game yesterday and its f-ing amazing so far. Not sure if it's the top down perspective that does it for me but I'm enjoying it much more this way. And technically, even though everything is in 3D, it's all very pretty and most of all runs smooth like butter. Took one of those high-speed motorcycles and raced through the streets with lots of traffic and things going on at breakneck speed and there wasn't so much of a hitch in the framerate. I'm very impressed with the game. I only hope it can keep my attention this time around...
  13. It's a custom title like contributor or super contributor, to give back to the people who help out on the site. Just like the Premium membership you can now download 7.5GIG every 30 days (if I didn't mess up any settings... ) Besides being a custom title that very, very few people have (there was this one guy once that got this title for a bit, but that was for a completely different reason ), it gives you access to a couple more sections of the site as you've already mentioned.
  14. That sounds awesome! And while doing that you are actually helping out me and Triverse as well behind the scenes, but enough of that for now. I hope you don't mind, but as you can see underneath your name, I have just updated your profile so you can more easily grab a couple of magazines of the site itself as well. Hope you don't mind.
  15. Just a heads up for the people waiting for the last couple of releases o be put on RS. My internet connection was capped for the last couple of days so I couldn't upload the last 2 releases, until now. So they both have an RS link as of now.
  16. What's that supposed to mean exactly?
  17. First of a big welcome from me as well. It's always great to see someone join who is interested and actually passionate about this site as we are. There certainly is some kind of template for the wiki, but the problem is that since it's been so long since I've worked on it, I simply don't know where everything is and how exactly I went about doing it... Been working on something different together with Triverse for quite a while now, which will probably come to fruition within the nest months or so. But I can't promise anything since it's very time consuming and we end up always wanting to make improvements before it's put out in the open. That index page looks just about perfect. The only thing I would do is put the Classified Information table on the left side as well so it balances out the two tables visually.
  18. Indeed the torrent idea was all great in theory back in the day when we tried it out, but in the end the you always end up with the same conclusion, no one keeps seeding. No matter how good the intentions are even for the people who tried to keep the torrent alive for as long as possible, in the end they give up because 99% of the downloaders just grab the stuff and bail. That's a lot of wasted time and bandwidth when you need to keep uploading over and over again. As for backups, I do the same as Triverse. Make a backup of a backup. It's not 100% safe, but it's the best you can do.
  19. Wow that's a steal! But to be honest I'm not sure if I would ever seriously use it since I'd rather play my MegaDrive games on a TV.
  20. That's actually one of the few systems I don't have.
  21. Final Fantasy 7 was like most Europeans one of the earliest true RPGs I got to play and at the time it blew me away. Loved it so much, but since then when I look back at it now, for some reason I'm not too fond of it anymore. Perhaps my tastes have changed, but I think that there are many RPGs out there that are so much better. I do love the game for one thing though, and that is to open the doors for other RPGs to be released in Europe as we didn't get much back in the day, besides a couple of games on Sega systems. DPsx7, I believe you're thinking about the wrong Outrun. This is the one that's being released soon: I've got Megaman 9 on VC so I wouldn't be getting it again on PSN, Bionic Commando sounds awesome though. I'm also not a big fan of downloadable only games, I even wish WipEout would have been released as a retail game, but I'll take what I can get.
  22. Yeah, I've seen that one. I know it was in one of the Joypad magazines at the time. A French magazine that copied the whole look and feel of Mean Machines basically, which I didn't even know until a couple of years ago.
