  1. If only it had been made with sugar, as opposed to HFCS, I'd totally be on board for this radical soda. As is... meh. I don't care for how Pepsi tastes, as it leaves my teeth feeling... gross. Almost like a film is on them or something. Throwback Pepsi, I don't have that issue, and the flavor is nice to boot. Throwback Crystal Pepsi? Bring it on.
  2. Not crazy in my book. I still prefer them over the post-RE4 games. Not that those are bad games in their own right, but it was kinda similar to the shift in Mario to 3d. Sure, Mario 3d games are solid (no pun intended), but they still have yet to top SMW in my book. Same situation with RE, the fixed cameras, awkward controls, music... it all contributed to the atmosphere of the game, something they've all lacked once RE4 came out.
  3. Stop! Don't open that door! But the voice acting is... *bang* Looking back, I have no idea how those games got as big as they did. Being there at the time though, it totally made sense. The music from that first game still creeps me out and makes me anxious.
  4. I don't know that they will. Sony already has a streaming service, I believe it is called PS Now. Cool idea, you pay a monthly fee and get to stream as many games as you like. Downside is, not all games are available, although going forward I don't really see that being an issue seeing as how many games are released digitally these days. Other downside is, I wouldn't want internet quality ruining a gaming experience. Not everybody has blazing fast internet...

    Crystal Pepsi

I'm with ya on that one RD. I tend to stick to Boylan for a soda for a snack. Other than the occasional Dew, I tend to drink mostly orange or apple juice and lots of water. I'd still be on board for a Crystal Pepsi Throwback though...

    Crystal Pepsi

Fair enough man, but if it tastes like regular pepsi, and throwback pepsi tastes better than 'regular' pepsi... other than the novelty of the lack of food coloring, what's the point?
  7. Hence why I have no problem with the way a vast majority of folks play old console games these days. PC at least has GoG for their classics. I like the "buck or two" model you posit. It's not like hosting a ROM takes much of their bandwidth on their digital store, nor is it particularly taxing on their system to play a 100% legit emulator. I figure if they sold these classic games at the buck or two mark, it would only serve to pad their bottom line. Sell old issues of NP on their website (or better yet, use that Wii U tablet to view them) at the buck or two point.
  8. Surely you've seen some of the AVGN episodes containing that game? James, Mike, Bootsy, and some other folks finally beat it at some convention that they went to, and streamed them playing. That game is, for lack of a better term, either very broken, or badly misunderstood.
  9. Ahh, it's been a while since I watched it, and I've slept since then, so... probably didn't commit that to memory too well. Honestly, I think demos are the best thing to have happened to gaming in the last 20 years. Rentals are also a good thing. I figure there is a certain price break where a trial is not only warranted, but should be expected. I think games fall above that qualifying point. Gives developers incentive not to suck.

    Crystal Pepsi

Well I'll conclude that I won't be buying any then... regular pepsi tastes pretty awful due to the sticky teeth feeling you get after drinking it. Pepsi throwback on the other hand, made with sugar... that's a different story, that stuff is yummy.
  11. Philly, I had watched that video a while back, and it's a good one. As for Nintendo "maybe" having a hand in the NP removal, who else would it be? They surely own the copyright, and therefore would be the only one legally able to request that something of that nature be removed from the site... Kitsunebi, I'm curious, but why are game rentals illegal?
  12. I can kinda understand, given my understanding of home sizes in Japan, a desktop PC takes up a decent amount of room... I think that would have been toward the end of that era, I was working at an electronics supply at the time. Ahh, back when 250gb hard drives were about as big as you were gonna get, with 320gb drives being spoke of in hushed tones... Built my PC with a friend way back in 2006. It's almost TEN already! It is showing its age a bit, but a new MB, memory, and video card would have this thing hopping I'm sure. Or I might just do what I did then, and splurge a bit with the long term in mind.

    Crystal Pepsi

Can anyone confirm whether US-bottled Crystal Pepsi is sweetened by sugar (as God and Ray Charles intended), or that awful HFCS crap?
  14. I... still have a floppy drive in my computer... am I really the only one? I mean, hey, it's the more modern 3.5" floppy, but still... ...nobody?
  15. Is anyone on the staff here expecting a C&D from Nintendo over all this? Hype train blow through the QC station?
  16. The Legend of Zelda games had a story to them? Huh... I've played five or six of them, and never once got the impression there was anything more than a bit of atmosphere to take note of. I don't think it was until Link's Awakening that they even pretended to have a story. Samhain, first off, welcome to Retromags. Second, if you don't mind my asking, how old are you? Not everyday I come across someone who has managed to avoid watching the Star Wars movies. I do recommend doing your best to avoid spoilers, as you seem to have managed. Makes the experience more genuine. I read most of them, at least what one would consider the "main" books. The ones that started coming out as part of a series ("Young Jedi" I think was the title of one such series), I skipped. So, most of the stuff that came out in the 90's after Zahn wrote that first trilogy of books. So, I've probably read 20 or 30 of them, and you know what? I can't say I regret reading any of them, but this what a more civilized age (the 90's), and I was certainly younger. Sadly, I don't remember too many of the plots, but I did enjoy the time spent in those pages... I still say they should have just adapted the Heir to the Empire trilogy into film instead of the prequel trilogy... would have been a far better use of the license.
  17. For what it is worth, a million doesn't really take you very far. All it takes is one bout with a serious illness, and most, if not all that you had saved up, is gone. Though, I've always thought that I could live comfortably on two million. Figure the first half of it to take car of debts and bills (such as insurance, food, utilities, etc), and the other half to make sure you have a cushion for the unexpected... All that said, as unlikely as it would be to happen, I would be more than happy to give it a shot, see what I could make of being wealthy.
  18. I agree, I never understood why developers were so quick to C&D some fan made stuff. There was a rather fantastic looking Chrono 3d that was in the works for many years, and just when things were looking good... bam Lawyers got involved. What developers SHOULD be doing, is hiring these people. They obviously have passion, skills, and dedication to their works. So why not hire them, or use them in some capacity? Much better than stamping out flames of enthusiasm.
  19. Hmm... I like my job, in all honesty. It pays for the comfortable (if busy) life that I have. So, I'd keep at the job. However, all the money I earned at it, would be play money for the most part, as I'd use the million to pay off my debts and cash out the rest. You'd be crazy to leave it in the hands of the banks, just ask anyone from Greece, if we have any members on here...
  20. Hotspot, I'm trying to envision how your idea of a mobile Suikoden game would work, and I'm coming up blank here. Either way, it doesn't seem Konami is terribly interested in making games in general anymore, much less another Suikoden game, unfortunately.
  21. Ahhh... MGS5. First entry in the main series that I haven't bought on day one. Not that I'm not excited to play it, just... real life stuff keeping me too busy to put the time in just yet. That, and I'd wanna play it on PS4, that I don't have at the moment. Looks fun though!
  22. RD, I never understood reaction videos... why do I care about how you react to something we might share an interest in? Your excitement (or lack thereof) most likely won't ever affect how I react to gaming news? That aside, I'm looking forward to it as well. Generations was certainly a step in the right direction. What I want to know, however, is why haven't we seen Sonic 3 on any of the digital distribution services yet? Only plausible thing I can think of is music copyright... I know that held up the PSN version of Breath of Fire 3 for a long while.
  23. Hehe, I see what you're doing here Areala...
  24. For all the reasons you mentioned above, as well as the fact that early consoles tend to be loss leaders for manufacturers, is why I chose the word revenue, rather than profit. Ran a small (ish) business long enough to learn that difference. Also learned to never speculate on profits, as you really never know just how much (or how little, as my case was) of a profit a business is making. Historically speaking, console manufacturers have lost quite a bit on the front end (the consoles) and made their money back on the sales of the significantly cheaper to produce software. All that said, I no longer run that business haha. Turns out, I wasn't good enough at it for the folks that owned the company, or rather, the folks that the owners sold it to. Fortunately, greener pastures awaited me. Shame they didn't include Panzer Dragoon RPG, huh?
  25. Comical, yes, but I'd be happy to laugh all the way to the bank with the revenue from those ~65k XB1's they've sold over there... Shame though, that they didn't see better results courting the Japanese development teams. We surely would have seen more variety in games than what we did in the 360 era... I can NOT believe that I forgot that one. Was genuinely one of my favorites for the Xbox.
