  1. I asked Frank Cifaldi who has an extensive magazine collection and archive and he's never seen it and he has some of the rarest mags I know of from that time period. I think maybe if you contacted some of the original staff like Steve Harris or Ed Semrad, Martin Allesi, Trickman Terry etc. they might have information on it. But I'm always reluctant to contact those guys for the purposes of this site. I'm mean I'm sure they must know about Retromags but I wouldn't wanted bring any unwanted attention or controversy.
  2. If you have EGM 82, look on page 54 and there is a picture of it. If not DL EGM 82 from the site and you can see it. It's in an article on the history of EGM.
  3. Those oversized issue came in the mail halfway shredded too. I was pissed. Probrably why they knocked that off fairly quickly.
  4. So I'm editing EGM 18 after finally finishing scanning and straitening the pages. It's been a slow month due to work schedule, spring break with my family off, taxes, and watching basketball. I should have time to edit it fairly fast. I'm 10 pages done but the cover needs some work. From far it's not bad but up close its a white cover so the waxy film on the cover picked up a lot of dirt so I'm cleaning it up extensively. Might take anothe 30 minutes cleaning up the cover alone. The rest should go fast. There about 5 images I combined this issue, mostly mega man 3 maps, and some two page art like the Dick Tracy Page that has a huge pixel art image split across two pages.mthey all came out nice. On one of the mega man maps in snake man's stage, the page break cut off one of the enemy sprites where I couldn't tell what it was supposed to be when combining. I actually watched a play through of the game on YouTube to identify the enemy in that section, find another one of him on the page and fix it with the clone stamp. Yes I am dedicated to getting it right I guess. I have only one staple bound issue left to scan, the Battletoads cover. These issues take much long to scan because I take out the staple and have to align them on the scan plate. Then individually name the pages and keep track of them as I'm scanning because they are out of order. It just takes longer because I'm going to staple these issues back together to preserve them. After that I'll be debinding and the scanning will go much much faster. Possibly in one or two sittings for a whole mag.
  5. I may inquire about some things regarding fixing our EGM collection, like checking on missing pages, and alternate covers. But for now I'm going to concentrate on scanning. When I get a break I'll PM you. That EGM 86 missing pages you provided were invaluable.
  6. EGM has a lot of alternat covers. I've found issue 8 has a CES only alternat cover. Issue 70 has 4 Mortal Kombat 3 covers Another issue 82 I think has 4 vf2 covers Street fighter 3 has two covers I've seen I think it's 84 South Park has 4 covers issue 114 EGM 97 has 3 covers The FF 10 issue has I think 2 covers . And I know there are more l. I noticed a few of the buyers guide issues have variant covers with black background instead of white.
  7. I absolutely vote you keep doing these classic age of gaming mags. Most of these I missed out on the first time around. And these are so rare to come by. You making these available is a godsend for the site.
  8. Whearas in the prequel sequels, when Zelds drops his cane like a microphone drop and starts jumping around like a mad man from some anime, I copletely busted out laughing uncontrollably. Totally ruining any and all levity that scene may have been trying to portray. Plus the CG just wasn't believable. Qui Gon was fantastic, as was paduaon Obi Wan. Really and all that build up to Vader and all we get is a big NOOOOOOOOO!? The first movie is a perfectly salvageable Anakin origin story. The other two the plot veers so far sideways that I don't find them believable. If it was up to me, the Anakin would turn to Vader at the end of the second movie, or maybe come about at the beggining of the third and lead the charge against the Jedi. I wanted a whole movie of bad ass Daeth Vader dammit. As it is , Darth Vader AS Vader is largely unexplored as a character.
  9. While I agree with some of those things, the sequels have much more things I can't stand. Like the phantom menace was a good start. Maybe the best light saber battle of the whole prequel trilogy. The pod race scene was classic. My main issues are the stereotyped characters. And Jar Jar Binks is a little too over the top. I can still watch the phantom menace. I can't rewardh the other two.mthey just aren't entertaining to me at all.
  10. First off The Phantom Menace was the only prequel movie I liked. It had a promising start. RoS was a hot mess. Only slightly better than Clone Wars. An apocalypse is so ok in would be the one where all people disappear , like Last Man on Earth. Or that other old movie I think was called Silent Earth. Where everyone just disappears except you or a few other people. I'd travel the world looking for other people. I'd sleep in furniture store showrooms. Build and perfect portable power charging systems and make my own hydrogen fuel or ethanol. I'd go on quest to find one of every super bowl ring and wear them proudly at all times. (Finding Joe Montana's and Tom Brady's corpse would be must.) I'd spend a few years at the Smitsonian. And reading at the library of congress. Yes I'd chose a benign but lonely apocalypse.
  11. Reading the last summary article, decrying LGBT characters being crazy or bi polar etc, I sometimes don't nessesarily think some interpretations are meant to be read this way, but rather in SOME cases they are portrayed as overly depressed and having problems due to living in an Unaccepting world.
  12. Checks article, no mention of the gay music teacher in Phantasy Star 2. Stops reading.
  13. I tried swapping out your cover the day I posted it on the galley but I didn't have the permission. Which I thought I had.
  14. I like that you post those up to edit. Honestly if I ever run out of my own scanning stuff to do and complete the EGM collection I'd be jumping all over that.
  15. I could a swore this issue had a South Park poster in it.
  16. This is like EGM Christmas up in here. I really hope within the week I can get EGM 18 out.
  17. Awesome. This has literally been in limbo for what seems like forever. So glad he was able to help.
  18. I just want to say this is amazing work. Maybe the largest video game magazine ever. The amount of hard work that went into this is well appreciated.
  19. Done and done! That saved me an hour uploading this monster.
  20. Retromags Presents! Electronic Gaming Monthly Issue 65 December 1994 Database Entry! Download Directly! Thanks to VGBounceHouse for scanning this issue!
  21. You want to get it or me. Im also downloading now. Then I have to upload to the site. I started the DL page entry already.
  22. Awesome , eigther me or eday will get this up on the site as soon as possible. I'm at work so will be maybe 8 Hours before I can get to it.
  23. 86 and 87 were pretty dry for games mags. There were of course industry newsletters like the fun club news and the Sega challenge newsletter. The pre-precursor to EGM, top score newsletter https://www.retromags.com/magazines/category/usa/top-score/#.VwSKsfBpZCk Delved into 8 bit gaming a bit, as did the precursor to EGM, Electronic Game Player. https://www.retromags.com/magazines/category/usa/electronic-game-player/#.VwSJlfBpZCk But that was I think 88 for the later maybe late 87.
